I got the Glendale Titanium ready for the season today & everything is good except the Atwood HWT when attempting to run on propane it will not fire up. Electric is fine...?...forgot to get the model # when I was at the coach, but can send it later. Not a supply problem as the range burners & the furnace work fine. I wanted to ask if there may be any telltale things to look for, or is it a job for a service tech?  Pictures & model # can follow a bit later this evening when I am back down there.

Here is a picture of the HWT. I will try to post the model #of the unit a bit later.

I am very much a novice but did have a similar problem - even though I heard the igniter clicking and propane would start to burn it would soon turn off.  It turned out that my hot water bypass valve was in the bypass position.  I'm not sure if this helps..

The Atwood HWH is pretty simple, and you can get the service manual free at http://bryantrv.com/docs.html

Besides the model number, tell us more about what it doesn't do. Does the igniter click (spark)?  Does the burner light and go out, or never light at all?

No, the igniter does not run its cycle.  It is silent. Burner does not start at all. Will the HWT have a 12v fuse in the panel?  I didn't look there yet.  I looked on the unit itself & do not see a model # there, that I can find, but here is a picture of the front cover of the manual. It does not clearly show the model number that I can see, however it is a 10 gal. tank.

Yes the WH will have a 12 fuse. The board and the igniter uses 12 volts for power.

Check your fuses and then unplug each item off the board and check and clean the connections.

Also check the igniter for any damage.

I looked on the main 12v panel inside the coach & there is no fuse specific to the HWT control.

I looked on You tube & found this video...?..very helpful.

Stay tuned!

Yes, but if the heater is 2004 or later, the electric won't won't work either if no 12v.  Prior to 2004, electric does not require 12v power. That's part of why a model number is important.

Ok, am back with more info. First off, found the model # It is a "GE16 EXT".  I think I may have found the problem.  There is what I believe to be a thermal fuse in line that when it is removed the system works, first you hear a little click, then about 15 seconds later the flame starts up & runs properly when the propane switch in the coach is turn on. Found a number on it "98C"...?...is that the correct part #?

Exactly what does that fuse do?

If both pictures come up ok, the one shows the fuse installed & the other one is just the fuse itself.

I have that same model.  If I run on gas and electric at the same time the thermal fuse will usually blow.  I carry a couple of spares.

They can be found on eBay or Amazon for a reasonable price.  Usually sold in a bag of two.

I checked & someone local has cut-out fuse close by to me that breaks at 104C...??...is that safe or better to go with the 98C one?

That?s only a 6 degree F difference.  If that?s all you can get it?s better than nothing.

Do you have any discoloration above the exhaust vent?  If you do the root problem may be a bad air fuel mixture.  I adjust mine to the point that it just starts making lots of noise.

Ordered a 98C Thermal Fuse from Amazon which came in today...?...all fixed!
