Onan Generator -Bad Starter?

I have a 93 Fleetwood Southwind with an Onan generator.  Last week the starter would not kick in.  I tapped it while trying to start and it worked.  So, I it hasn't ran for about 5 days.  When I tried to start it, I could here the starter engaging and cranking but not fire, it sounds like something is just spinning on a rusty wheel.
