We are headed to the Oregon coast this summer and are looking for recommendations for 4 "base camps" approximately equidistant along the Oregon Coast.  Thanks!

Lots to choose from but you better get your reservations in. We liked Beverley Beach SP near Newport. It is about halfway so day trips north and south are easy and the beach is outstanding.

Great park in Depot Bay, highly recommended, but as aforementioned, get reservations early

Thanks Roy,  Beverly Beach is on our radar.  You're so right.  We need to make our reservations tomorrow!  Looking for more suggestions from our RV Forum friends.

Several nice State Parks on the Oregon coast.

Not too far south of Beverly Beach is South Beach state park. Have not yet found a park in Oregon I did not like.

Jeff after Oregon we are headed to Washington and would love your input on sights to see and RV sites!

We have stayed at Beverly State Beach, Nehalem Bay State Park and Harris State Park several times. Some of our favorite spots.

My favorite section of Oregon coast is from Gold Beach south to the CA/OR border.  Probably the least crowded part of the coast.

If you enjoy hiking spend a couple days walking the trails in Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor:
https://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&parkId=56
And a link to a PDF file for the brochure for the area:  https://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=main.loadFile&load=_siteFiles%2Fpublications%2FBoardman_Brochure%28lowres%29030235.pdf

The trail winds along the bluff with great views of the ocean, beaches and rocks below and in most places there are steep trails down to secluded beaches.  Going during mid week you may have the beach to yourselves.

As far as where to stay, this is a link to the city operated RV Park in Brookings which is right on the beach: http://www.beachfrontrvpark.com/?utm_source=campgroundreviews.com&utm_campaign=RVLife_Campgrounds&utm_medium=referral  This campground is quite rustic and the campsites are very close together, but being right on the beach kind of makes up for that.

Other places to stay, I would use Campground Reviews:  http://www.campgroundreviews.com/regions/oregon/brookings to find a place to stay.

For a truly unique place to stay near Gold Beach, IF you are willing to boondock, you can stay right on the edge of the Rogue river. We spent 3 nights here a few years ago.  Quiet and peaceful during mid week.  You also get to see the Jet Boats passing by taking tourists for rides up the river.

Directions:
Rock/gravel pkg area along Rogue Riv (state trust land). No facilities. Free. No signs. From US-101 MM 328 (S side of Rogue Riv bridge), set trip meter to 0, go 3.6 mi E on Jerry's Flat Rd (signed Agness 35 mi) to where rd comes out of a curve into a straight stretch. Continue to 4.1 mi, counting 6 electric poles on the L (passing a yellow fire plug on the L, & just before rd again curves to R), TL (N) immed at 6th pole & bear immed R on gravel rd (42.46209 -124.36799), stay straight (no turns) on best gravel rd (a few potholes), 0.1 mi to riv. 42.46511 -124.36687. Room for all size rigs w/ riv access, ahead & 0.3 mi to R (E). Or continue E another 0.2 mi straight down a rd to end, & loop back to L along riv - OK for lg rig, but watch for sandy areas esp near the riv. Drive slow on rocky areas. Quiet at nite, hydrojet tour boats by day. Sheriff patrols. Other rds toward riv off Jerry's Flat Rd (before the 6th electric pole) are not for lg rigs.

If you can work the jet boats into your trip they are a blast. Took my grandsons last year and they talked us into doing it again, I didn't even make them beg. You will have a blast and you will get wet. With thr good snow pack this year I'm betting the season will be fun.  https://www.roguejets.com/ We stay at http://www.kimballcreek.com/ great place and the boats stop at their dock.

AStravelers Thanks for the boondock place. I might check it out as the boys love fishing and it looks as it would  be a great place to spend a couple of days.

Personally I like Salmon Harbor at Wincheater bay.  Beautiful park, grassy sites, fantastic views.  Remember, if you dont already have reaervations at a state park your chances of getting a spot are really really slim.  FT srevens or the KOA right across the road is an excellent first stop. Netarts Bay RV is a good stop for crabbing. Sea and Sand south of Lincoln City is good for views.  On the south coast you have a good chance of getting into a state park except Honeyman.  Brookings harbor, is a parking lot, but right on the water,,so again great scenery.

LOVE all the RV site recommendations.  Also appreciate recommendations on things to do and see in Oregon.  We will be in Oregon for two or more weeks in mid to late June.  Many thanks!

PS:  Anyone want to join us?

While the coast is beautiful June is not the ideal time to visit.  Oregon has 4 distinct and varied enviroments.  June time frame central/eastern Oregon might offer better weaher.  Best time to visit the coast is Sept and early October.  Central/eastern Oregon will be far less crowded in your time frame.  Nice warm days, cool nights.  If you have never been to the high desert it is worth a look.  Besides its 200 miles closer to home.

We did this trip last summer, southbound, in September and it was wonderful!  We started in Tillamook (wife has a "thing" for cheese) and short-hopped down the coast to Klamath, CA.  We had great weather and the scenery is unbelievable.  We were driving a 41' Class A, towing a Jeep and had no problems at any of the sites (except for shearing off the hose bib at Coos Bay, but that's another story...).  Here's where we stayed:

Tillamook Bay City RV Park
7805 Alderbrook Rd  Tillamook, OR  503-377-2124

Oceanside RV Park
90281 Cape Arago Hwy  Coos Bay, OR  541-888-2598

Turtle Rock RV Resort
28788 Hunter Creek Loop  Gold Beach, OR  541-247-9203

Golden Bear RV Park
17581 US 101  Klamath, CA  707-482-3333

Happy Motoring!

Last summer we stayed in several places along the Oregon coast.  My favorites were Florence and Lincoln City.  But in my humble opinion you could stay just about anywhere there and be happy.

Thanks all.  We've booked four sites in Oregon.  We have some points of interest we have identified but are open to more suggestions in addition to the ones that have already been listed.  Thanks again.

Did you go on a buggy ride on the dunes at Florence? What a blast!

Sure did.  But we enjoyed the go karts more.  The DW said she would win.  She started out two rows in front of me and I passed her before the first turn, and then lapped her five times before our time was up.
