I have a 1983 Magic Chef, and the gas will not turn on in the oven, although the stove works fine. Do they make replacement valves for something that old? I have the serial numbers and all that. Does it have to be perfect level like a fridge?  :-\

No it doesn't have to be level. I just replaced the oven control unit in my oven this week. The part cost $60 and it took me a half an hour to replace it. Very easy. Oven works perfect now. Search Google for the part number of the stove and you should find someone selling the part you need. My unit is a 94 Damon Challenger class A with a Maytag Magic Chef oven.

Been checking around, the numbers don't come up on google at all. Wondering if it could be replaced with an upgraded part. The only issue would seem to be the mounting screws. A valve is a valve, so to speak. (??)
