We just completed our very first RV trip in our rental. We rented a Class C Coachmen Freelander 27QB. We chose this particular model because it was under 30 ft and had no slides.
We really like the coach and never felt cramped in it, even with our brother-in-law hitching a ride on our trip Here's our list of pros & cons:
Pros
Very roomy
Coach fan worked wonderfully well, never had to turn on A/C
Queen-sized bed was very comfortable (Serta mattress)
Room on either side of the bed
Dual hanging space on either side of the bed
Charging station next to the bed
Space to accommodate a CPAP
Outlets on both sides of the bed
Tons of storage throughout the coach
Split bath (one person could use the toilet while the other used the shower, convenient!)
Enough room in the fridge for all of our food for the entire trip
Drawer under the oven was a great holding area for my dog's water & food bowls
Dinette converted to bed was perfect place for my dog to curl up and look out the window on the road
Jack knife sofa was very comfortable
Lots of room in the cabover bunk
TV swiveled and was easy to see in the coach
Bluetooth-enabled so we could play our own music on the road, instead of the radio
Easy to hook up to water/electric/sewer
Easy to access black water hose in rear bumper
Tank heater worked quickly and never ran out of hot water
Raised toilet seat was great for older adults (could potentially be too high for a small kid)
Tons of rear storage
Night shades on windows were great
Extra flip-up counterspace
Cons
Coach was noisy going down the road with the windows open, especially kitchen window
Gray tank monitor did not function properly and overflowed (kept displaying 1/2 full)
3 burner cooktop was impossible to use with regular sized pans, would have been better with 2 burners at an angle
Kitchen sink was small, took some manuvering to wash dishes
Gray tank was small and filled up quickly
Shower was small
Bathroom sink faucet was too short to rinse hands properly, barely cleared the edge of sink bowl (poor configuration)
Locks on outdoor storage did not work well, door came open on the road (didn't lose anything, thankfully!)
Engine doesn't have much pick-up to it when you need to get some speed in a passing lane
We certainly enjoyed our vacation and the pros definitely outweighed the cons. It certainly exceeded our expectations, given it was our very first RV trip. We can't wait for our next trip. Our next rental will be a Class A. Looking forward to comparing the experiences
