Roof air filters

I picked up a nice used Coachman Catalina  1993 model over the weekend and starting to clean him up. I pulled down the roof air filters they have a black plastic frame with thin foam in them some of the foam is gone.  Can I use the flat sheet type filtre type you know the white cloth looking stuff and cut to fit or would it be better to stay with the foam. I don't want to put any undue strain or stress on the older unit.  Thanks. Don in KY

Should be OK, as long as it is porous enough to let plenty of air flow through.

Thank you for reply  that's what I was thinking.    Great reading on this forum. Lots of good ideas. Now next to tackle the counter top then all should be well.

A/Cs use washable 1/4" polyurethane foam filter material, available at Lowes etc:

While you have the filters down look at your condenser and make shure it isn't clogged with dust.
