Sewer Hose Storage

Hey Guys, just purchased a new TT. When I took my Sewer hose out of my bumper on the old TT, I noticed rust buildup on the bottom of the hose. Is there an easy solution besides installing a separate hose compartment? If I have to go the separate compartment route with a fence post, is it as simple as bolting the fence post to the bumper?  or do some use the plastic storage container? I just have the single pass through storage up front so my storage is limited. Thanks

Our new Arctic Fox's rear bumper is plastic lined which is really nice for sewer hose storage. Trailers we had in the past were metal only bumpers and we got rust there too. If not one of those storage tubes, maybe a Rubbermaid type container with lid would work? You could keep sewer hose, fittings, rinse hose (if you use one), disposable gloves, basically anything involved with the sewer hose in that bin.

Thanks for the input. That plastic lined bumper would come in pretty handy in most TT's. Think I'm going with the Rubbermaid container, easy solution

I've seen some Trailers where people have attached a large PVC pipe above there back bumper for storing the hose.

Simple solution other than plastic storage: NO
Is it as simple as bolting the fence post onto the bumper: Almost.
I'd put a cap on the ends and "pin" one end (The other end you glue on)

Mine wont fit in my bumper so until I get around to mounting a piece of pvc pipe under mine I keep it in its own designated plastic tote.

Back when we had a small Class C, I drilled a series of drainage holes in the square rear bumper. Then I ran a wad of steel wool through the bumper several times to clean out the loose rust, and painted the inside with several coats of Rustoleum enamel using a cut down 3" trim roller and a 4' extension pole. The inside of the bumper still looked pretty good when we sold it three years later.

A 5" vinyl Fence post will hold your sewer hose.  Mount it on top or behind the bumper.  Mine stays there with bungee cords just fine.

I put on a lid with hinges and a captive pin to hold it closed.

We use a five gallon paint can to hold ours.  Fits perfectly.  Grab one at walmart for about five dollars.  Seals everything up nice and neat and easy to slide into storage compartment!

Not sure if anyone has done it yet ?, but on my TT, I have a 4 inch OD pvc pipe, cut to length of just inside bumper, I then ripped it length wise so it would fit inside the bumper, this is a neat little way to store your hose, and keep it from touching any metal inside the bumper.

I did the same, only I used ginormous zip ties to hold it on. I added a length of plastic gutter inside that works like a drawer. It makes it much easier to get my Camco sewer hose with swivel fittings in and out.
