Slide Out Awning Help

I have a Carefree slide out awning on the slide out of my 2015 Lance Camper. Does anybody know what this part is or how to adjust it? Look like it may be some kind of stop. Someone suggested that it might be an anti-billow device but awning is less than 24" wide and to small to billow.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but on my MH I have a little arm that would hit the motorhome and stop the awning from opening if something failed in the awning mechanism while the slide is closed. Once the slide is open, it can turn without hitting the sidewall.
