Slider Hitch

I have a 18K Pullrite Superglide slider hitch.  Question being can I tow a trailer that doesn't have the "catch" on the pinbox?  I know it won't slide, just will it lock-in properly has anyone done it before?

Use two straps to keep the hitch upper plate from sliding and it works just fine for a short move
