Trying to determine if a solar powered battery charger for the toad battery is worth it.
I tow a 2011 Lincon MKZ. Hybrid and with all power turned off my battery still goes dead, so I'm probably missing something. In any case I was wondering if the solar chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter work over long distance (7 hrs or more). Does anyone use one? If so what type?

As usual thank you for your help.

Two things to try:

1: Experiment to see which circuits are drawing power and pull the necessary fuses. (this method can be a PITA with having to reset radio stations and seat memories etc. each time)

2: Rig (install) a battery charge line from the coach to the toad. May require changing the plugs to a seven pin in order to get the additional wire.

3: Most small solar chargers don't do a very good job and the "cigarette lighter" may not be powered or connected without the key on. (I have one that is and one that is not!!). They also require full sun and no shadows so a grey day and/or shadows.....no charging
