I wanted to thank everyone for their comments and help with our truck purchase. A few weeks ago, we bought a 2017 F350 dually with just about every option you can think of. It's name is Hank, as in Henry Ford. The 5th wheel is Vivian VanLeigh and Hank's job is to escort her all over the country. Thanks again for all your help.

Wow that is a gorgeous setup....Good luck with it!!

Any of the big 3 manufactures are good these days but I'd add a little meat to the truck 550 5500 to 750-7500 would be a good truck. HP and torque don't mean diddly if the truck isn't designed to move weight. Mustangs and Cameros have 500HP these days I wouldn't pull a 20+ trailer with one. A truck that can easily handle the job is safer and will last longer than a truck the struggles. 16000# and 38ft is to heavy for a 1 ton to safely haul for any lengthy distance. We're not talking hauling a backhoe around town

Thanks to everyone and their comments.

I had not considered a used, low-mileage truck for fear of the possible inherited problems. Maybe it's worth a look? I'm also not sure how to find one with everything we want, including color and tow package. Perhaps we could look around the country and "go fetch it if we find what we're looking for.

Try Car-Fax or similar companies for everything you want...

Next time I'll read ALL the posts before I add my two cents!  :-[

While the OP has already purchased their vehicle, I'd like to know just how you qualify your statement. What experience do you have with pickups pulling 16,000 lb trailers?

When I was operating a hotshot business, we had several 1-ton trucks that went hundreds of thousands of miles usually grossing 40,000 lbs.

My truck pulls my 39 foot, 16,000 lb trailer very easily.
