The aluminum shortage in Arizona has been going on for at least 6 months with sofa pop bottlers running out of cans periodically. Interestingly enough Arizona doesn't recycle aluminum cans and such

It's that JiT manufacturing. It gets them all the time.
When our company was doing our own manufacturing, JiT got to be the big thing, and we had several interdepartmental discussions about it back then.
It's all well and good until one little thing gets shorted, and then boom. The whole production line falls on its bum.
We decided that it was better to just pay another company to build our PCB's for us and let THEM sweat component supplies.
