Tire DOT Code Location

I checked the DOT code on the outside rear tires just fine.  But when I went to check the front tire, I could not find a DOT code.  Just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I had my son-in-law look, too, and he could not see one.  Do they just put the DOT code on one side of the tire?

Tire date codes are found only on one side of the tire.  In my case usually on the inside or less accessable side.
