I replaced this seal on my dometic 210 so it would stop leaking and hold water again. After positioning and tightening everything back up I noticed the ball does not completely close by depressing the pedal. Instead I have to lift the pedal up to close the seal. Did I tighten the metal clamp too much? Is there a water proof lubricant I can add to the seal to allow the ball to slide better? I chose to get the $9 seal off amazon to save a few bucks rather than spend 40 on the dometic one.

We need photos. Are you sure you positioned it correctly? I think the 210 is the model where you have to take the toilet apart, right? In other words, you have to take the whole top part off. I think this is the toilet I replaced several years ago, and replacing the seal was a pain! And I do remember using some sort of sealant goop, but can't remember what it was. I had the toilet replaced with a Dometic 310 and it is a LOT easier because you can replace the seal without taking the toilet apart.

There is a notch you have to align the white teflon to the bottom half of the toilet. The top half doesn't seem to have any center positioning. I turned it so the toilet seat stays open without hitting the wall. I can feel there is more friction when moving the pedal which is why it isn't springing back to shut.

When we had a toilet like that after I replaced that seal I was told to depress the pedal and then slide your foot off the pedal allowing it to snap shut. After a few snaps it sealed correctly. Worked on ours.

not uncommon for this to occur. it could be a slightly worn return spring or a seal that needs a little time to break in / slightly out of spec or all of the above.

keep it moving and dont be afraid to use a drop of dish soap to lube things up a little.
