We intend on being here 3-4 weeks. Then we had intended heading to Death Valley, but I can?t see that happening. Glad we will have some company. So many of the long term regulars haven?t shown up or chimed in that they are coming.

Death Valley is open for day use.  Stay outside the park if the campgrounds are still closed and have the place to yourself.  Longstreet Casino has an RV park just across the Nevada State Line 7 miles north of the Amargosa Opera House.  Pahrump is an hour east of Furnace Creek and has many RV parks including Lakeside Casino.

If anyone is thinking of staying in Pahrump at the Lakeside Casino, be advised. Lovely site, but some of the security staff that patrol the campground must have been trained by the Gestapo. Totally ruined what would have been a wonderful two weeks last year with the most petty excuses. Site rules say no maintenance or vehicle cleaning to be done on site. That means don't even think about wiping over the windshield or checking the washer bottle for water . Trust me, I know from personal experience.
As we are back in the UK, and travel restrictions are in place, we sadly won't be able to join our friends at Q. Stay safe all of you.

As TonyL mentioned, it's not the same old Lakeside.  The last time we stayed at Lakeside, our 3rd, was our last.  That was about a year ago.  New management and not what you call user friendly.

Yeah, but I don?t like the long drive into the park from there. We were planning one week or so at Stovepipe Wells and another week or so at Sunset. It is just too big a place to see it all from one spot. It is one of my favorite places, and we missed or normal 2 weeks or so this fall.

Looks like we will be a little later.  I finally got my call for the Elks initiation, and it is the 19th.  So, we will head out on the 20th.  See you all then.

Just did a day trip to the "Q" a few days ago. The place is a ghost town compared to the usual crowds. For those of you going to the "Q"  from the east STATE FARM stadium off I 10/101  in Gendale AZ outside Phoenix will become a 24/7 innoculation station starting  MONDaY JANUARY 11 for those 75 and older with a follow up 2 weeks later. As it is a stadium there will be plenty of parking for rigs and then you can go in when the lines are gone  maybe midnight or so

It has been just us and Shorts (Vickie and Mark) since Dan and Marge left last Sunday. While the area is filling up, it is still much less crowded than it has been in previous years. I do have the RV Forum banner on a pole to make it a bit easier to find us.

Current plan is to arrive some time after Jan 20th.  FWIW, since I haven't had a vaccination, I'll not look kindly on any effort to greet me with an Escapee hug. ;)

Pam, are you still planning on heading to DV after Q?  We might do that as well.  If so, take a look at the Pads as a possible place to park.  If you're not familiar, it's maybe a half hour from Sunset.

Have now joined Pam and Kevin on site.  Boy, not like years past.  Had to look around for a few minutes for my usual parking area.  Must be getting old!

We will be back on the 25th with a sun tan,, it's been 84 here in Yuma and we met with Bill & Pam Nash while here..  See you then..>>>Dan 8) ( Sure would like to see Joe and Doreen Cot'e but they have forsaken us for a place called Florida..)

Mike and Wendy are still in Death Valley. Will leave here Thursday or Friday headed to MM99 area. May sneak in to the Forum site to say Hi.

Have fun. Stay safe.
Wendy, Mike, and Ralph

Well, I'm headed back west.  Currently in OKC hitting the road in a couple of hours.
I have a spot reserved in a LaPaz Valley RV park.  One of the couples that works for me in the summer has a winter gig there.  I will definitely swing by the rally site to say "Hi', and keep my eye on the forum for discussion of Jeep trips planned.

Brewers arrived today dodging all the rain. Great time getting in as there was NO dust.

Off to  visit happy hour!

Looking forward to reading your always entertaining posts, Betty.  Memories!

Whetstones have arrived.  Dodged most of the rain, windshield wipers on intermittent for about 10 minutes.  Arrive during Happy Hour, set up now, fed drank and toasty.

Quartzsite was a pipe dream from our first finding the forum, and our first forum rally back in CT around 1997?  The Q stories seemed so out of touch from our at the time reality.  Fast forward,  well it was a slow forward, but a fast rewind from now.  This is our 4th?  I think.  2009 was our firsthand that year we spent the whole winter, and only had a chance to visit for a night, 2011, we were wintering at Grand Canyon and got down for a couple days.  2012 saw us wintering at Old Faithful with coach in winter storage, so no go for those years, but 2019 we were able together here, and a fateful year that was.  Ended up buying the Queen from Betty and Terry.  Last winter, FL, and we are now back.

This year with Covid and such, it is a much smaller group.  But it is still Q.
Love this place or hate it, it is uniQue.

I bought a little motorhome just to make it back to Q.  Not sure if you could even call it a motorhome.

I will pick it up in two days and will try to make it to Q Friday night.

Renae is driving me over to California Friday morning and I suggested putting bedding and the bare necessities in our car so that we could stay a day or so at Q on the way back and try it out and see old friends.

Funny thing is that this one would almost fit inside my old Stacker.

Nice looking rig Bill. Once an RVer it is hard to keep us still. Hope to see you on Friday.

A unique Q year to  be sure.

No name tags, no schedule, no white board of activities. Pam and Kevin have  provided firewood for  the first few nights and I returned to my motorhome reeking of smoke. I forgot to wear my "old"  clothes to the fire. A most terrible rumor is that there is NO Thrifty ice cream near the big tent. So sad.
I still want to make a quick swing through the big tent just to " see " what is  there. Rain forecast tonight and it is quite cool. Not windy though  like  one year when awnings were a flappin.

What a year. Miss so many!  Happy to see those here! Stay tuned!
