    Selecting portable generators

I would spend the money on the Honda over the Chinese version any day.  You might want to consider two if the EU2000i models and the companion cable.  That way, you can use just one of them when you don't need the air conditioning.  Price for two of these is about the same as for one EU3000i...

Newbie with ants in the RV

When I bought my m/h it came with ants.  Took about three months with ant traps (replace once a month) to get rid of all of them.  Have not had a problem now for nearly three years.  I just bought the ones in the grocery store, and put about a half dozen throughout the m/h.  Floor, kitchen...

    Purchasing\upgrading RV dilema. Advice?

Not sure of the layout, but can you fit a bigger bed into your trailer?  We sacrificed some maneuvering room but got a 70x80 (almost king) sized matress into our Holiday Rambler.  We had to expand the bed platform some but it works fine.  We have a little less maneuvering room, but all we do is...

    Movies with RV's in them

One of the Beethoven movies is structured around a cross country RV trip.  Great family movie.

Newbie question about older 4 down towable car

You might want to consider a Chevy Malibu.  Towable 4-down with automatic trans.  Simple to add baseplates.  We are happy with ours.

Would someone explain "Smart Phones" to me

I had a smart phone for a couple of years.  Finally figured out that I can get a prepaid AT&T dumb phone that does have the capability to get on the web but isn't smart, and it costs $50/month prepaid, with no contract.  I saved approximately $60 per month from what I was paying for the smart...

    Pat changes our plans

Jim - so glad to hear she is ok.  I had appendicitis in Titusville about 30 years ago.  Brings back memories.

    Help with Paranoia

I routinely (several times a year) run our generator all night when boondocking.  Typically it's in a wal mart parking lot or a truck stop with plenty of other noise to drown out the sound.  Yes, the other noise in a truck stop is not pleasant, but my wife takes her hearing aids out at night and...

Slide out topper cost 12 Ft.

My quote was 150 materials, 150 (approx) for labor.  I was in camping world a few weeks ago and saw their published rate for labor for an awning was around 100.  Not sure what they would charge for the material.  My material quote was from Carefree, the maker of the awning on mine.  I haven't...

Backing up your PC and all your past work

I use dropbox to back up my work files (www.dropbox.com).  I also have a portable hard drive that I do a back up to, once or twice a day.  This gives me an off-site and an on-site backup.

Using coach air instead of dash air when traveling?

Personally I use whatever air conditioning I need to in order to get comfortable.  With all the expenses of RVing taken into account, we're spending between $250 and $300 per day to be out there RVing.  I'm not going to be hot and miserable because I don't want to spend a few more $$ running the...

    RV Mileage?

If it is not a previous rental unit, I would think that would be at the higher mileage end of the scale.  I think 5,000 to 7,000 miles per year, for personal use, would be close to average, although I don't have a resource to quote - that's just my personal experience.

Is it okay to run propane while driving?

I always do, but I know there are conflicting opinions on that.  I don't run hot water though, not because of any safety concerns, but because I only run that when I need it.  The water heater doesn't take very long to heat up so I don't see any advantage to leaving it on.  I generally don't run...

    Ford 6.8 Liter V-10 issue

Try turning the key to "start" and back off several times in quick succession when you are having the problem.  My 2000 F-53 does this too, but it will always start on the fourth or fifth try.  I think we're getting some corrosion in the contacts from the infrequent use.  When we're out using...
