    Ocala National Forest

Silver River State Park is lovely if you can get a spot.  I believe it books up fairly well at this time of year.  You can make a reservation at reserveamerica.com.  It's definitely worth a stop.  The sites are spacious and the trails are pleasant.

    Electrical Costs

It just depends where you are as to what you use.  We are paying 11 cents per kwh in Bowling Green, Florida (south-central) and we paid $4 a gallon for propane just before setting up camp in December.  We are consequently using electric for everything and still have a full tank of propane. Last...

New version of the National Anthem

Tom, Do you remember when folks used to go to the "pictures" and try and hurry out before the National Anthem was played at the end (and to get the last bus home)?  Perhaps this is a global problem. ;) Christine

Prescriptions? Brits in USA & Canada

Alternatively, can you get a forward dated prescription from your own GP which someone can get filled for you over there when it comes due, and then ship it to you here?  Some of the drug costs over here are astronomical if you don't have medical insurance to cover them.

    Louisville RV Show

I don't think so.  You might generate interest in a sale.  At the recent show in Tampa we saw folks walking around wearing placards advertising a 40 foot Phaeton.  I thought it rather ingenious.

    Thor A.C.E.

We had the drop-down  bed in a 1984 Pace Arrow and really liked it.  Occasionally it was used by our then teenage son and we also used it to store long items such as coats as at that time we only had shirt closets.  We really liked it.  I seem to recall the Trek had the same feature but that was...

    Thor A.C.E.

Hello Karen, We saw the Thor ACE at the Florida RV supershow in Tampa the week before last.  We both thought it was fabulous value for money.  It was attractive, very comfortable and very well priced.  The sale price was about what you quoted, around $70K.  We couldn't believe you could get so...

    the usual newcomer dilemma

Cutting aside the economic issues, three things come to mind.  If you cannot parallel park then you may have problems if you have to back up a fifth wheel.  That could be learned though in a parking lot with patience and time.  The second issue is security.  Class B's or C's will give you more...

    Medical Question.

I met an RVer a week ago who contracted it in Arizona last winter.  She was hospitalized for a week.  She didn't say much about it except that it was terrible and she is terrified of getting it again.

    RVing in Mexico

I am not sure how relevant the age of the vehicle is.    If you know nothing about electricity and basic mechanics I might stay away from an older rig but if you have any mechanical aptitude and are physically able to do the work you shouldn't have concerns.  There are plenty of people on this...

    RVing in Mexico

RVGranny, I've not driven a Class C so couldn't speak to the difference in maneuverability.  I think you do need to consider how you plan to use the vehicle and what you want to be able to do with it.  We parked in some campgrounds where caravans could park and the larger vehicles could...

    RVing in Mexico

We have been to all the towns you mentioned, either in a 31 foot MH or later in a 37 foot MH.  I'd have preferred shorter in Barra de Navidad, for example.  We were there in both MHs.  We ended up one time on a dead end street and getting out of it was a nightmare.  I would not sweat a 25...

    Rv'ing For the younger set

I understand what you are saying because I was young once!  When my husband retired from the Navy he was 47 and I was 36 and I was 20 years younger than most people traveling anywhere, even in state and national parks. We were fulltiming and the only folks traveling were those who weren't...

    GAS STATIONS

My knowledge isn't up-to-date as we did the Alaska trip in 1986.  We didn't have any problem finding fuel then but we did use a book called "The Milepost".  From other postings on this forum I believe it is still published every year.  You shouldn't leave home without it as it really does...

    rest areas

We drove to Minnesota this summer from Alabama and it seemed that every other rest area was closed in most states.  I don't know the answer to your question, Tom, but it seems to make no sense that so many are closed.  It certainly can't add to safety on the road.  What really surprised us is...
