I have M&G on my Wrangler, Air Force on the Cherokee. the only reason for the Air Force is that the M&G would not fit. They both work well, but the M&G. in my opinion, is less complicated and thus less prone to problems. My advice .... if the M&G fits, use it!

I'm not sure I explained my question very well. I agree that a steering tag axle must be effective in shortening the turning radius, since it's a feature on expensive units. However, my question related to the ability of the tag axle to push the rear end around when the four tires of the drive...

If that's the case, then there doesn't seem to be a need to lift the tag (on a non steering tag) since it's rolling also and has only half the ground contact.  I guess the steering tag works, because they are installed and used, but it seems that you are asking an axle with only two tire...

My first car was a 1931 Chevrolet Coupe.  Paid $50 dollars for it, drove it for three years and sold it for $100.  Recently saw one at a classic car sales lot, not restored but in excellent original condition.  They wanted $30,000 for it.

Don't know whether you enjoy fishing, but I used to drag the boat over to Palm Harbor on windy days to fish in the intercoastal. Fishing was good there then (30 years ago) and the water calm compared to the bay.
