    California Hwy 166

What is your destination once you get into the Central Valley?  Are you going north or are you going east over the mountains?  There is another option to Hwy 166 and that is Hwy 46 which is mostly a 4 lane divided highway from Paso Robles east to I 5.  If you are proceeding to northern...

    Most trouble free diesel

There are Cummins and Caterpillar engines, but no Cummings.  Each is dependable and will far outlast the coach if they are maintained and cared for properly.  It is like the Ford vs Chevrolet question.  Both are good engines.

    Decisions decisions

Wetness around the closet area is a real RED FLAG.  Have the area checked by an EXPERIENCED RV shop.  Water damage is probably the most difficult and expensive item to repair.  The water damage may be isolated, and that is good, BUT get it checked out to find out how far the moisture has...

Dometic Refrigerator Door Repair. Replacing hinges?

Once the door hinge breaks, there is not a real good way to repair it because it is integral to the door.  Further, Dometic no longer makes the door.  So you must jerry-rig a hinge somehow, or find a replacement door from a salvage source.  I am speaking from experience because mine broke, and...

    Montana 5er Factory Graphics

Decals can be replicated by any good, local decal business. You do not have to get them from the original manufacturer or a dealer.  2000 Nu Wa Hitchhiker 5th wheel decals replicated and installed on trailer for less than $500.  I had to remove old ones, but the new decals replicated the...

    duallyvalve extenders

Dually valve stems are not extenders and extenders are not Dually valve stems.  Dually valve stems are long, one piece, valve stems.  Are you looking to install the Dually valve stems, and if so you should inquire at local truck tire stops.  Or, if you have time, just purchase from the Dually...

We Need "Your" Experience on Places to Stop on Our Way to AZ

Tom, The airstrip at Harris Ranch is used primarily by private pilots flying in to eat at the restaurant there.  The Nut Tree Restaurant and airstrip on I 80 out of Fairfield was another favorite strip used for the same purpose.  However, the Nut Tree closed a few years ago.

    The epitome of capitalism

Everyone seems to be lamenting the changes that have occured in the last half century and wishing for what we had then.  What has changed?  Primarily we have political correctness!  Our government at every level, city, county, state and federal is bloated with departments catering to those who...

    RV Solar Problems

Stop by Solar Mike's at Slab City.  He can run things down quickly, and his charges are very reasonable.

Dually Valve Kits, Tire Man Ridgecrest or Borg ? ?

I have the Dually Valve Stems on my MH, and they are very high quality.  Have had no problems in six years, and would definitely install them again. Don't know anything about Tire Man in Ridgecrest, but any tire shop that sells and services trucks can install them without a problem.

    Another ONAN generator issue!

Your first post indicates you just serviced, changed oil, filters, etc, on the generator.  Did it run before you serviced it?  If so and it doesn't run now, I would check the oil level. My Onan says 3 1/2 quarts capacity, and I put that amount in the crankcase.  Started it up and it ran for a...

    Onan Emerald Plus 4000

Oil level in the crankcase is very sensetive.  If the oil level is not full, the unit will not run.  I changed oil and filter in mine and refilled the crankcase with 3 1/2 quarts as the Owners Manual indicated and it would start and run for a minute or so but would then shut down.  Posted my...

it's official according to the news this morning.....

Carl, Several years ago California imposed a sales tax on gasoline, and still does.  That tax was imposed when fuel was about 50 cents per gallon, and now with fuel at about $4.00 a gallon, the tax has quadrupled, plus the sales tax has increased.

    Purchasing a short sale RV

California lists the lien holder on the Pink slip or ownership document, including the annual registration documents.  So, you can look at the current license registration to see if there is a lien holder, and if so, the name and address of same.

    Master key

One aditional condition that must exist before a "master" key will work.  All locks for a particular "master" key, must have the same keyway. Schlage, the manufacturer of the deadbolt lock on my Safari has numerous keyways for their locks.  The lock on the door lock of my unit is a different...
