Thank you all for the useful information.  I will replace the plug and socket. Have a happy 4th.

    30amp wire question

Still a newbie; shore power cord is plugged into an on-board generator outlet.  The outlet that runs to the Genset is old and appears corroded. Thanks

    30amp wire question

I was running my rv using my 4000 kw generator.  It is rated for approx 30amps.  I was running about 70 percent load for 1.5 hrs.  Is it normal for my 30amp shore cord (hooked to a 220 outlet), that runs to my generator, to feel warm to the touch after operation has ceased? Everything was...

89 Chieftain as a first motor home

I for one agree with Gary.  I have an 84 Chieftain; took me 18 months to find one that checked out.  Little things will go on you. Stay away from service shops, especially in the peak season (now). The relationship I have with my rv is similar to my marriage- Most of the time it is enjoyable...

Best Delaware and Maryland Beach RV parks?

Thank you for your response.  We may try some Jersey shore sites this summer near Cape May or Ocean City. I like the idea of the shuttle, much easier than having a family member follow me in another vehicle.

    Leaking aluminum roof?

Good idea, I should have taken the vent off in the first place. I bet it has no seal which I assume it should-

    Leaking aluminum roof?

I have a roof leak in my bathroom around the skylight/vent.  I don't have the means to perform a leak test on the rig.  I already took off the old sealant and did a thorough job of applying new sealant around the vent.  There is a vent pipe located near the edge of the roof close to the bathroom...

1984 Winnebago Chieftain with Chevy chassis (Hydroboost issue).

Thanks Gary, You are dead spot on- found a truck chassis shop that is familiar with the system. They said 'bring it on in....and we can make our own steel lines if needed.' I will post an update. Thanks, Drew

1984 Winnebago Chieftain with Chevy chassis (Hydroboost issue).

Thanks for the info.  Now is a good time for me to purchase Good Sam RV tow insurance. I may destroy the current pump by driving it to the dealer. I have Progressive and I believe a tow is covered, not sure if the tow is covered from home, but it should be. Thanks

1984 Winnebago Chieftain with Chevy chassis (Hydroboost issue).

Gary, one of the forum moderators, informed me that there are some members familiar with the hydroboost brake system integrated into my power steering system.  I believe I have a leak in one of my steel lines that runs (from or to) the power steering unit (if you are facing the front of my RV...

    Ceiling repair-

To all, I am fortunate to have an extremely talented and creative mother. I asked her opinion and I may place in a vinyl ceiling.  The vinyl goes up with a staple gun, it is resistant to mold and mildew, can be cut easily, it is lightweight, and a pretty original idea if I must say so too- For...

    Ceiling repair-

Hi Bill, That was part of my question, you are correct.  I was also trying to ascertain the 'cleanest' way to do the job.  It sounds as if I am not as handy with woodwork as the other members on this post, so I decided to go a route that I am comfortable-

    Ceiling repair-

Hi All, For all whom assisted me the least I can do is let you know what way I am proceeding. I found the following company outside Pittsburg PA. http://dipcraft.com/inventory.html Howard at 800-229- 2363 was extremely helpful.  I am going to place FRP throughout the rig. It is light, has a...
