Upcoming trailer purchase - opinions solicited

I know exactly what you are talking about.  That seems to be a common problem.  Especially for some brands.  Some people want what they paid, so they just sit on the classifieds for ever.  You have to be patient to get a good deal. Or bargain these delusional people down, which is often a waste...

Glendale RV is the latest victim...

I looked online at one of the dealers.  One mentioned the filing and will do extended warranty if there is no factory warranty(I don't know what the warranty is in these situations).  Hopefully a market for quality RV products is there.  IMO, it seems like an exchange rate issue than anything...

Glendale RV is the latest victim...

This is really too bad.  Sounds like they were one of the better makers.  (edited: already another thread on this)

    Is this a good trailer?

Sounds like you got a good deal.  They still use plywood floor, which is what I want in my next trailer. Where can you get a used 2008 31 foot single slide 5th wheel  for $11-$12k?  That would be the bargain of the year around here!

    Is this a good trailer?

100%.  Don't forget a 2008 was probably built in 2007 and is 3 years old.  It's just a 2008 "model year".  Tires may be cracking for 3 years under the sun on the lot.  Same goes for the sealant. I agree with a steep discount.  The dealers around like to say the "internet price" is the lowest...

    Racks

What kind of racks are available for RVs at the back?  Is there anything available for 10 foot longboards or kayaks?  Is the ladder safe to mount things on?

    5th wheel prices versus trailers

Why are 5th wheels so much more expensive than trailers?  I know they are taller and have a more complicated hitch, but not 50% more material/complexity.  For example, a 25 foot trailer could be 25k, but the 25 foot 5th wheel will be 38k.  Is it because the market for 5th wheels is smaller, so...

suggestions please for GOOD 25-28' fifth wheel trailers

That would be a good thing. What does Glendale use for floor materials construction? OSB or plywood? Unfortunately, used Glendale's are in huge demand. I've never seen one.

Question about new TT's and 5er's

I stand corrected.  It is the design. QC is irrelevant.  As more and more makers shorten the warrantees down to nothing; and more and more drop plywood floors for chipboard (or paper mache if they could) to save a few bucks, something has to give. This is how opportunities arise.  Someone is...

Question about new TT's and 5er's

    > I thought that about my used trailer, but I'm still here and want to make it work.  If you go used, pay a mobile RV person to inspect it.  You will miss stuff on your own. This is the problem.  You can buy a leak-proof reliable new car for the same money(or less) with a 5 year warranty. ...

Rent before you buy fifth wheel and truck

There are lots of places that will rent you a travel trailer.  There are less that will rent you a 5th wheel although the only place I found was in Arizona.  I've never heard of a place renting both. Anyways, this is the road we went.  We rented a cheap travel trailer.  It was poorly...

In praise of the bumper hitch

One thing not mentioned here or in the library.  FYI, I currently own a 5th wheel. Additional Advantages for bumper pull: 1) $8000 less new than comparable 5th wheel. 2) Easier to maintain the roof for those afraid of heights.

    Earthbound RV

I agree.  Bigger tires the better.

    Earthbound RV

Anyone on this forum seen or know someone with an Earthbound RV?  I've searched and haven't found any user comments out there.  They have a 3 year warranty and a composite roof.

Should we purchase a 39 foot 5th wheel?

IMO, 39 feet is too long.  Some relatives have that and they have to book 6 months in advance and plan everything.  You can't be spontaneous with that size of rig. Also, if you are spending $50k for a new rig, I would support a manufacturer that is committed to quality.  Do not listen to people...
