    The Other Best Day...

I'll have to check the photos - LOL... His GFs have been a revolving door since he was 16. I don't even try to remember their names until they been around 2 months. But, yeah. I am pretty sure that was the one... Thanks for remembering her and our great get together... PS - Do you know...

    The Other Best Day...

So I have been wanting to get rid of my MH for about 6 months now. As many know My kid lived in it in Melbourne for about 6 months after I lived in it for a year. When My kid came back he again lived in it for about another 3 months until I moved him into the house after he broke up with his...

    Cultural (In)Sensitivities

Yeah - this was hard to get used to for Americans. At one smaller airline the top person in the spares department was a woman. She would be accompanied usually by two of her staff. It was always her that served everyone green tea -really weird. My ex-wife was a paralegal and she managed to get...

Can I block a forum category?

Well - I always start the day by reading "threads with your posts." - These are threads that I have posted in and it's a good way to jump in to update conversations I am already playing in. Of course, by reading these threads they are cleared from the "new posts" list. Then when I click into...

Showed the dealer a thing or two!

Well done for you but the next client got the same "empty weight" spiel so during your 10-15 minutes of "educating" the salesperson was getting paid and you were wasting your time - LOL....

    Cultural (In)Sensitivities

Oh, I'm not proud of it but in my 30's I was an Olympic class "business" drinker. So I use the term lightweight, not in the literal sense but in the relative sense - LOL... Today I hardly drink at all. I drink rarely and only at social type functions.

Can I block a forum category?

I was going to respond to this thread but I never read the Forum Admin, News & Member Account Info forum because it's a waste of my time once I realized that I couldn't get members' bank account information. False advertising, I say...

    Cultural (In)Sensitivities

Almost all of Asia had "drinking" rituals. I was in my prime - mid-30s and could outdrink just about anyone. Especially the Japanese who are lightweights. But Vietnam was different. They drink this firewater that tastes like nail polish remover smells. But they do "individual" toasts. So one...

Don't worry about dragging over the posts so far but I started a new thread here --> Cultural (In)Sensitivities

    Cultural (In)Sensitivities

This is a new thread that might be fun. I broke it out of this thread after Tom and I started causes some serious thread drift. That's not really free delivery Lots of us have traveled the world whether commercially or n the military. Americans ar "famous" for their "dead ears" when it comes to...

Towing and camping with a mid-size pickup truck

I've been an SUV guy my whole life. When I retired I bought a 2019 RAM as I had bought 5 acres and a truck seemed like the right idea. In many ways it was but... In hindsight I wish I had bought a 2019 Expedition, Durango SRT or Lincoln Navigator. Same or better towing capacity and the bonus of...

Sorry for the thread drift everyone... Yeah - this was funny especially if one had the accent but not the skills. "Moshi-moshi. GE no Johnson desu." The Japanese caller would launch into the conversation and a minute later my guy would say. "Sorry I don't speak Japanese could you repeat...

    That's not really free delivery

Everyone learns it in a different way. When I got to Japan I had like 6 guys working for me and all the wives complained they didn't get "proper" Japanese training. Usually they would get like 50-100hrs of "home" study which they wasted. So I said, "You don't all get a do-over individually but...

    That's not really free delivery

That's so true. There is high level Japanese and a guttural Japanese men speak to each other and there is a "polite" Japanese that "women" speak to their men. When I got to Japan I was the "top" guy in my office. I was pretty young. I met one of the top Japanese guys who spoke through an...

    That's not really free delivery

Lived and worked with the Japanese for about 11 years and got really close to many of my business colleagues. There are a lot of "culturalisms." One time I asked a guy to settle the business card (meishi) debate. Do you present English side up or Japanese side up? "Deutsch-san. You are Gaijin...
