Congratulations!  Isn't it great finally knowing how everything works?

Shore power doesn't charge my battery!

Thanks for the help, guys! There was indeed an inline fuse in the battery compartment.  Even though it looked fine, I went ahead and replaced it.  No effect so far-- It's been an hour and the battery still reads "empty". The converter is a B-W Manufacturers model 6235.  I reckon the last one...

Shore power doesn't charge my battery!

I have an older RV (1986 Chevy Dolphin) with yet another weird problem. When I'm plugged in to shore power, all of my 12v stuff works fine (lights, water pump, etc), but my battery level doesn't go up.  In fact, if I plug my inverter in to one of the cabin cigarette lighters, I can slowly...

Quick tip for your Wal*Mart visit

Ah, I suppose you're right-- It's really up to whoever is paying the security guards, which may or may not be Wal Mart.

Quick tip for your Wal*Mart visit

Remember that Wal*Mart stores-- especially those in urban areas-- are beginning to shy away from overnighters.  Stores may change their overnight policy without announcement, so it's important that you call ahead if you're planning to roll in late at night.  It's happened to me a few times now...

Any tips for a cheap adventure (or: Is this feasible?)

Geodrake, I can't imagine five months will be enough!

Any tips for a cheap adventure (or: Is this feasible?)

Sorry to bump the old thread, but I wanted to tell everyone that I'm three months into my RV adventure and I'm loving every minute of it.  I settled on a 24' Chevy Dolphin from 1986.  I found one in pretty good shape with 41,000 original miles.  No major problems so far, but I've had my share of...

Propane filling setback-- I hope this doesn't end my trip...

I think it's go to be the check valve that's stuck open, because to my (untrained) eye there's nothing that's obviously cracked or broken. Thanks for the tips, guys-- I found a place down in Jerome, ID that's going to take a look.

    Photos of members' rigs

You all have such beautiful RVs. Mine, on the other hand, is a 1986 Chevy Dolphin.  24 feet long.  It has its share of eccentricities, but you get what you pay for I guess!

Propane filling setback-- I hope this doesn't end my trip...

Hi guys.  I hate to come to you only when I'm having problems, but this one's threatening to put the brakes on my trip through the Sawtooths. I'm trying to have my propane tank filled for the first time since I bought the rig two weeks ago.  Unfortunately, there's some sort of leak in the fill...

    My new (old) rig

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.  I don't think there's any way I would have bought it without the encouragement of you folks. Hope to see you all around the country!

    My new (old) rig

Hey everyone!  I finally made the big purchase.  It wasn't the one that I posted about in the earlier thread, but something slightly cheaper, bigger, and in better shape.  It took me almost a month from start to finish, but it was totally worth it. Anyway, it's a 1984 Chevy Dolphin.  It has...

    Nervous about buying...

Thanks for everyone's replies.  Getting it inspected is a good idea.  I'll make a post about the outcome as soon as I can  :)

    Nervous about buying...

It does have a squeaky fan belt.  Everything else seems to function well.  The owner certainly didn't hesitate to fire it up and drive me around the block. Well, I made an offer on it!  Who knows, tomorrow I could enter the wonderful world of RV ownership.

    Nervous about buying...

Oops, I guess it would have helped not to forget all my attachments. Anyway, it's a '79 Itasca that has spent the majority of its time in Nevada.
