    tow mode/transmission question

I can only comment on a 1500 4x4 6.0L GM truck, but Marc got it right -- which is basically to say, play around with it and see what works.  With my '07 4x4 1500 GMC 6.0L (vortec max) I tow a trailer that is roughly 7700 lbs loaded (truck is rated for 8500).  The truck will go into O/D when in...

Help keep me out of trouble, I am scared

Anthony, I'm not aware of a map or GPS system that shows hazards such as clearance, but some of the more experienced road warriors on this forum may prove me wrong.  I can tell you that in general you will be fine when out on the road because most are designed to accommodate 18 wheelers. ...

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

Thanks egdeaile -- that battery is getting a little old. :)

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

Certech....I never even thought about mounting a second battery.  There is a second factory battery mounting area right there and ready for me to put a second one in.  One other question --- how do I connect the second battery?  Do I simply run a set of short battery cables from the second...

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

This one must be an LP detector then because it was mounted down low near the floor.

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

I didn't realize there was a difference, Certech.  Since you work on RV's let me ask you a question...the main reason I want to disconnect the thing is so I can run my refrigerator between weekends at the campground (so we don't have to unload it once a week). With that LP / CO detector...

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

John, thanks for your reply and your concern.  Not sure if you saw in my original post, but I'm going to buy battery operated one (or one that simply plugs in the wall).  I don't want to take any chances either.

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

That's what I was thinking too, Mike but wanted to ask someone else to be sure.  Bruce, I should have mentioned that I want to have the ability to run my fridge between weekends at the campground -- which is why I don't want to use a disconnect.  It needs juice from the battery to run the...

Un-hooked CO2 Detector -- Will capped wires still pull current?

When parked the battery on my TT drains as a result of two things -- clock on the stereo and the CO2 detector (which is always on).  To keep the battery from draining I removed the fuse to the stereo and disconnected the CO2 detector (I removed all fuses and it kept running so just disconnected...

    yukon xl & jayco 304

I believe your best reference is your owners manual and the rule of thumb a lot of the veterans on this post have -- allow yourself a 15 - 20% buffer from what the owners manual says is the maximum weight for your vehicle (to the guys who post here -- correct me if I'm wrong on that).  I tow a...

Mark -- do you have the 4.10 gears?

Towing a toy hauler with an F 150

Can't comment on Ford over rating their trucks nor can I comment on the weight of your son's trailer.  However, I can tell you I tow a 33' Puma 30DBSS TT with my '07 1500 4dr. crew cab Sierra with the 6.0 Liter Vortec Max.  I've weighed everything out and have consulted with several of the guys...

Not going out again until Thanksgiving - Winterize in the meantime?

Thanks for the responses guys.  Unfortunately we have to keep it stored at a local storage facility and we don't have access to a plug to run a light bulb or heater.  Just to be safe I think I'll blow the lines out.  Thanks again.
