Sway Bars vs Torsion Bars ???

I have a friction sway bar on my hitch and it works well.  To reduce tongue weight, you might re-distribute your PUP contents to be closer or over the PUP axle, if you can't do the weight distribution hitch (can't remember requirements).

    Pop Up Camper Lift Motor

I believe a 24-volt cordless is the one highest recommended.  I did read a post somewhere about someone having success with an 18 volt rechargable, but remember reading another post where the 18 volt 'started smoking'! Best wishes

    Lift Repair

Hopefully you haven't snapped a cable.  There is a thread on one of the popup camper sites (Popup Times, Popup Explorer, Popup Portal) that has the Fleetwood/Coleman parts listing for many years of PUP's - I printed the Niagara listing for 2006, but the URL is not listed on any of the pages so I...

    cold water issues

Has the unit been winterized?  If so, possibly the by-pass valve is the culprit.  And, you might check under the trailer - you might have 'low-point' drains and one might have been left open so that the water is draining out the drain rather than coming to your faucet.  I went through that and...

    Deep Cycle Batteries

I wouldn't sell either - if your PUP has a break-away switch, I believe it requires the battery to operate.  You can find a scad of information on RV batteries in a publication called "The 12-volt side of Life". Happy Camping!

tent or popup trailer recommendations needed

Her first most important consideration is the capacity of her towing vehicle.  That will determine how much weight she can look at purchasing.  Then, under the weight limitations, she will want to check out floor plans - which can be done online at the various websites (Jayco, Fleetwood/Coleman...

abnormal tire wear on '95 jayco popup camper.

I had a blow-out on I-95 earlier this year, and when I returned home with the PUP and the dead tire, my tire guy mentioned that I might have been driving in truck ruts, as only the inside of the blown out tire tred was worn  - other tire fine, and PUP not overloaded, no evidence of bent axle....

Huge electrical problem! WHAT HAPPENED NOW?

If you are using a window AC in your PUP, you might want to utilize a heavy duty extension cord and run the AC directly from the CG electric pedistal as the compressor of a window unit has one heck of a draw and you might find yourself replacing fuses/breakers and damaging components of your...

Running off the battery ... ??

Your PUP has two electrical systems - 12volt for lighting, water pump, furnace fan and a 120-volt electric system for the outlets and appliances (if you have a 3-way refrigerator, you have a choice of 120-volt or propane). You might consider disconnecting the battery when not camping as your...

    Gray water dumping

I don't know how much wastewater you would be generating, but, I have a Barker blue tote (25 gallon) which has a T-handle as well as a loop to put over your tow vehicle's hitch ball and the tote is wheeled.  It's pretty easy to tote to the dump station (pretty much a hole in the ground) and pour...

    Frig died, now what?

Gotta ask - was the refrigerator a 3-way fridge?  Was he using in on propane or electric?  Was the back of the unit heating? It takes several hours for an absorbtion refrigerator to cool (depending upon ambient temperature and items being loaded in the unit - should be pre-cooled). If the back...

    size air conditioner

You will most likely enjoy the Carrier Air-V 13,500 unit best - it comes with a template/directions for installation.  The carrier Air-V has a 'slinger wheel' which aids in the removal of condensation.

RV travel still beats airline travel ?

Getting back to the subject at hand - I've noticed in just the last two months that air travel was cheaper (if planned in advance) than driving, but, that is quickly changing as the airlines have increased fuel costs too.  As to staying in a motel/hotel, their prices will increase accordingly as...

UK Resident - Using LLC to register RV

I read somewhere that LLC's are also an insurance issue....and obtaining Emergency Roadside Assistance via say Good Sam Club-ERS may be difficult as LLC's are excluded.  As this doesn't apply to me, I did not investigate it further than my GS-ERS pamphlet, but you might want to investigate it.

    What's happening to campground prices?

I too have a membership in Thousand Trails, and before upgrading to the Platinum Membership (no time outs and 3 weeks in each preserve and one can go directly to another preserve), I had a 14 day max then 7 days out of the system - annual dues were $500, purchase price (resale) was $1,020 which...
