    Engine Brakes

The use of 'the' or 'a' is completely relevant, and you're only trying to dismiss it to lend your own argument some credibility, much like you were trying to do here in what seems to be a less-than-thinly veiled attempt to make me look like a fool. This is your idea of "the friendliest place...

    Engine Brakes

I didn't say it was THE technically correct term for any one of those individually. I said it is A technically correct term that can be used to refer to any and/or all of them collectively.

    Engine Brakes

It isn't new terminology at all. It's a technically correct term for any of those devices, and it's certainly less ambiguous than "e-brake", which is commonly used to refer to a vehicle's parking, or "emergency" brake.

    Shouldn't have happened

Yeah, right. So vital were they that not a single person went to check on them in at least the amount of time it takes to become dehydrated enough to go into renal failure? If this happened to someone's pet at their house, they'd be charged with felony animal cruelty.

    Engine Brakes

It should be by now. If not, I'm sure you'll get used to it. I'd think you'd be thrilled, since your previous objection was that "e-brake" seemed lazy, and retarder is the technically correct term for all of them anyhow.

    Engine Brakes

Likewise for, "when you use your retarder . . ."
  9. P

    Engine Brakes

Because they are all retarders, and when you make a statement that applies to all of them there's certainly no reason to list them all e.g.,  "when you use your engine brake/exhaust brake/transmission brake, here is something to keep in mind . . ."

    Engine Brakes

How about we just use "retarder" as the generic term , since that's what they all are anyhow.

    MPG question

I like the Cummins engine, but I'm keeping my 7.3 litre powerstroke until it won't run anymore. It really has been the most reliable truck I've ever owned.

    Trailer Life/Woodall's Merger

The merged edition will be out the day after you buy one of each, if your luck is anything like mine.

    I'm New !!! Roof repair/replace

I suspect you could have easily walked away from it had you wanted to do so. First, in most states, they are required to disclose that a title is "salvage" before selling it to you. It's possible they shoved a piece of paper in front of you during the dog and pony show in the F&I office for you...

    Quit smoking

I quit smoking 21/2 years ago, and I still want a cigarette every single day of my life. I'm actually considering starting the electronic cigarettes.
