Need a new car....would like to use it as a Toad. Any suggestions or favorites?

A little late to the party - we've been on the road.  We bought a 2009 Ford Escape V6 AWD.  It appears to be the lightest automatic transmission / AWD vehicle that's towable 4 down.  Our 2003 Dakota 4x4, that we tow behind the Vectra was just more than the little View wanted.  So far it's got...

Michigan U.P. Eastern Half two Week Circle Trip

No trip to the UP is complete without a few days in the Keewenaw - the "real" UP, if you believe the locals.  Houghton has a city park with a beautiful CG.

When Did Winnebago Install Slides in Their Class C motorhomes?

1999 - 31C Minnie and 30V Minnie Winnie.  (From research on Winnnebago's website.)

    Weight of a 2007 29R?

If I read the sticker that Al provided correctly (including the fine print), when you fill it with fluids and 600# of occupants, you're at max GVW??  Sounds like something some of the less scrupulous (and no longer operating) manufacturers would do - but very unlike Winnebago.

2010 Winnie DP's to all have roof air conditioners instead of basement air (?)

Our '05 36RD Vectra used to struggle with 90+ temps, too.  When we had the rear cap replaced (long story involving an idiot operator - me - and 2 trailers - both ours), we resealed the supply ducts from the basement to the "attic" ductwork.  The ducts had gaps - one about 2" x 10" - where the...

uninvited guests... not what you think!

If you're lucky, it'll render them sterile.  We go through about 20# of bird seed a week, and I have learned to hate starlings, cowbirds, and Brewer's blackbirds.

H1NI..Swine Flu.. anyone worried of future travels?

I am very compromised by COPD.  We are traveling to Europe for a cruise next week, and my pulmonologist gave me a prescription for Tamiflu.  He was mostly worried aboout the air travel, not the cities or the ship.

New Tires on Horizon - The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

    1.  Freightliner recommends not using either (as of last week at Camp Freightliner). 2.  They are not good if you have an internal tire monitoring system, like Smart Tire.  They eat up the sensors.

Slow fuel fill solved in late model Freightliner chassis

Interesting.  We were at Gaffney last week and when I asked, they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

    Vectra/Tour models

Go with whichever floorplan suits you and your co-driver.  As stated, 25K is nothing on a diesel .  .  . their predicted service life is over 300K.  Personally, I prefer the 40KD, because of the king bed - but we didn't wind up with one of those ('05 Vectra 36RD, instead).  You never really...

How much power is enough, towing 8,000lb trailer/NADA value?

If you're towing 8000#, hold out for an ISL Cummins, or larger.  The general consensus, also, is that Cummins' get better fuel mileage than CAT's.  I have a C7-350 and tow ~9K. It isn't good at climbing, and gets <6MPG. (Gets 7.2 with the Escape toad.)

Where is everyone going for the Memorial Day weekend?

We'll be at home.  We just got back from Florida, via Gaffney, SC.  We're getting on a big silver bird Wednesday and going to Northern Europe for a month.
