Casino Parking Lot Boondocking - a Safer Option

Any updates on this thread? I have a truck camper. Can the TC's sneak by some of the parking lot prohibitions? I like the bear spray idea. I don't have a gun, but I would like some protection. Have any of you had problems while in Vegas with crime? I'd like to stay somewhat near the action...

    Walmart and Saftey?

Only trouble I had was some teens banging on my rig at 2 am at some fla WM.

I need an economic history lesson.

I don't write much on politcs anymore. Gave it up. Too old a cruster now, am just trying to be a good slacker with the years I got left. But here is an old post I wrote back in the day...(I did save all my old stuff as text files. ) Two big things to start with...PEAK OIL and the underlying...

    Tire Age?

Got 5 - 6 years and about 12000 on a pair with an Aliner. Got a TC now, so done with china bombs.

    Winterizing...every 2 to 3 weeks?

If you did tent camping in the winter, your 3 season TT will feel like a palace. I suspect you can get it to the 50 - 60's or so inside? My Aliner did not do good in winter because the floor was uninsulated 3/4 ply. And the biggest issue was the pop up sides had all the foam rotted out, so cold...

    Winterizing...every 2 to 3 weeks?

rokeesrv , depends on what you feel is comfortable? I used to cold camp with my old Aliner winterized. I did not run water in it. A 4 season unit has the pipes in a heated basement. Or as my TC has, the water tank and pipes inside where you can heat em. But the gray tank is not winterized and...

    Would Timbrens help me out?

I'm at 90% of GVWR with truck camper, water, gray tank, gear, people in my F350. Heard about Timbrens and wondered if I need them? Or are they for guys nearing 100% of of their GVWR?

Anyone remove rear seats on a Ford supercab?

Thinking of making more room and take out seats in F350 supercab with TC. Maybe carry my Honda 2000 Gen, scuba tanks etc back there. No kids at home to haul, so could use the extra room. Anyone try it, how did it work out?

    Winterizing...every 2 to 3 weeks?

Wow, your very cautious with your pumps! Yep, the pumps are the iffy part of it.

Safety - visual check before driving away

When I used a TT I felt the wheel bearing covers to see if they were heating up and gave TT a quick look over all over. Once in a while checked the spare. It almost came off one time, someone 'screwed' with it for fun. I lock everything I can. People seem to be getting nastier every day that...

    Winterizing...every 2 to 3 weeks?

I use my RV more in the winter for ski resorts, than in the hot summer. I've been using a little Aliner pop up. Has a water pump for sink and outside shower and no tanks. Used a lugaloo and urinal. My new rig is a Northstar TC with cassette toilet, shower and gray tank...now I'm a high class...

    Lesson's learned - second trip

OP, glad I got a TC and not a big complex rig. But even my little TC is not fool proof. After I bot it, on the drive home, I found out the dealer miscalculated and the cabover was hitting the roof. Made a hole in my new trucks roof...

GVWR, standard payload, max payload...250,2500 uugh

Wow, do they hassle TC'ers say 600 - 800 pounds over registration limit? Or is it for someome towing a big boat? I'm right at the border with my wt and 8000 pound registraion for an F350. But it is with an empty TC. I may add 800 pounds of stuff for a trip, so be overweight according to the...

Another newbie question - what type of tiedowns???

That is the cehapest way. Torklift tiedowns, fastguns and locks cost me close to a grand.
