RV windows for 4" walls ??

I'm going with a trailer chassis designed specifically for tiny homes (which basically means designed "for standard home construction"). Here's a Youtube video showing the frame along with a demo of all the dimensions and design characteristics. The trailer frame is made by a company called Iron...

RV windows for 4" walls ??

Impossible to say and I haven't come across any convention other than to weight the materials (or finished product). I'll probably just overstate the gross weight when buying the chassis. I've owned a Jayco Jay-Flight 24RKS which had a gross weight of 7000 lbs. This trailer would be about the...

RV windows for 4" walls ??

You are correct that the stick frame will be insulated on all sides. The issue with the windows is more of an esthetic consideration. I simply dislike the square, boxy looking conventional house windows. However, you make an excellent point and quite possibly one I should give more thought to...

RV windows for 4" walls ??

That occured to me initially, but I thought the indented window sill would look a bit wonky. Probably worth a shot now that I'm hearing it from someone else. The mind works in mysterious ways!

RV windows for 4" walls ??

Contemplating a scratch built "tiny home" style camper trailer. Love the quality and customization that comes with building a tiny home but still see it (mostly) as a travel trailer. Bones will closely resemble a home with a plywood subflooring and outside walls framed in 2x4" lumber, which...

Battery tie downs -- To Box or not to Box, that is the question...

I've added (2) 120-Watt solar panels to my Winnie, along with a GoPower PWM-25 charge controller. So far, everything is exactly as it should be with the only exception being the existing "deep cycle" Sears (DieReallyHard) battery crapping out. I suspect this is partly because the Sears batteries...

Full-timing while working full time in Southern California

I don't think that's remotely what Jake is proposing. The guy wants to park his RV in peace, get a night's sleep, grab breakfast/coffe/whatever at the local donut shop and be on his way. He's not asking for guest services, rest rooms, security, insurance or the morning paper. Maybe if more...

Thermo Couple Switch - Need advice

I would suggest using a simpler, solid state thermal swtich -- This is a N.O. 45-C solid state: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180861327881?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Also, here's a fan that would probably do the job nicely! Its thin, wider then most standard PC power supply...

First Time out in Old yet New RV!

lvlyfun, I'm really sorry to hear what happened to you. Sadly it seems you were taken for a ride (no pun intended) by some real crooks! I know the feeling. If you play your cards right you may have some actual recourse (not the 'recommended' recourse that practically is often more trouble then...

Problem with Dicor self leveling lap sealant

I just completed a solar panel installation on my Winnie (aluminum roof). I covered the brackets with Dicor Lap Sealant (501LSW) and used it to fix the cables to the roof in several spots. The stuff  worked exactly as expected. The beads/puddles leveled out pretty smooth and adhered to the...

    Solar power question?

Why not snowbird and save yourself the trouble? I just finished assembling a 2-panel, 240W system on my '94 Winnebago. With just one panel up its putting out 5.5-8 in direct sunlight. When the second panel goes up (waiting on a cable) that should bring the output to 10-12 Ah for 3-4 hours daily...

Solar Panel Upgrade -- Need some insights

I recently bought a brand new (to me) '94 Winnie Class-A. Being oh-so-manly, I decided to make some improvements. Top of my list was of course power, as I intend to dry camp most of the time. I did some research, shopped around, and assembled what I think is a pretty nice kit. The setup consists...

Black Water Holding Tank Repairs - Fact or Gimmick?

I plan to clean the fresh water system by running a mild bleach solution (very mild). I was going to add around 5-8 gallons to the fresh water tank by bucket (have to test that system too). Might just add another 10 gallons or so when I flush it. Would have been nice to have a hose!

Black Water Holding Tank Repairs - Fact or Gimmick?

Update ** Poly-Weld PE Holding Tank repair seems to be holding! I haven't posted in a while as I've been busy with repairs and upgrades to the wheel estate (yes -- I picked that up!) for the big adventure. My last post was right about the time I haphazardly applied Poly-Weld to 2 gash sites on...
