Although we didn't work outside a campground, I cooked as my wife waited tables in two RV parks over the years. The money is nothing like a friend of ours made over the years. She worked in a restaurant in Virgina in the summer and made enough to stay in Florida for the winter.
You get a myriad of answers. Wash with soap and water a couple of times a year, never use any petroleum based products, and try not to park under sap oozing trees. (That's the hard part!)
As you said; Wait until retirement. Cold zones are not a good chioce for most RV's to be in. The noise of an RV furnace pumping heat 24/7 would drive most folks nuts.
14" drums will not fit over 15" backing plates. I'd double check the same model elsewhere if need be. Re-check your model number. The 15" wheels may come with an upgraded model with heavier axles. Saying this; No I wouldn't give up yet.
Went full itme 11 years ago. Started out in a motor-home. After one year we traded to truck and 5th wheel. Extended stays, 5th wheel. Extensive travel one place to another short stops in-between, Motor-home. Simple ;)

I agree with the above. Especially the possibility of structural damage from corrosion. Particularly the frame. Besides new tires, wheel bearings will have to be inspected and re-packed as well as suspension bushings and shocks. You could just about count on replacing the fridge and hot water...
