2002 Journey Floor Rattle

I have a 32' Journey and it has developed a floor rattle when driving, mainly on bumby roads. It sounds like a bracket or brace under the sub floor is possibly loose or broken. You can feel it hitting the sub floor when driving down the road, it's pretty much in the middle of the floor just in front of the sink. I have taken a quick look to get an idea, access to this area is from the main storage compartment on the passenger side. Anyone every had this issue and where can I find a drawing of the floor support framing?

Winnebago has a complete library of plumbing and wiring schematics and diagrams, but no structural drawings. You'd have to call Winnebago for that information.

What kind of flooring is in that area? Laminate, carpet or ?? Any chance there was a water leak since the area is near the sink?

That area is tile. No leaks that I see. You can feel it when your standing on this area driving down the road, only when you hit some bumps though.

I started looking around a bit. The subfloor framing in visible from the passenger side double storage compartment. It's tight in this area since it is pretty much located in the middle of the floor. Looks like I have to remove a few panels mount in there that protect equipment from the storage area to get a better look.

I guess I am glad that there haven't been anyone else with this issue, meaning the floor framing was designed well, I just got the Friday afternoon version, lol. Now that the season is over here I have taken a decent look, nothing obvious. I think I will need to go on a short ride with someone actually riding inside the storage compartment to actual here and hopefully see the problem. The floor framing is located about 4 to 6 inches above the chassis framing so you can only access and see this area from the storage compartment under the kitchen area. More to follow.

Spring weather here has been rotten! We got more snow in April than March! and it's been generally cool and rainy with a few tease nice days here and there! Took advantage of one and cleanout out the storage compartment. Went for a ride with a buddy who pin pointed the spot on the floor, we then took measures from the side wall in to the spot on the floor and from a window back and used those to start looking inside the storage area. The issue was right where our measurements took us but we were lucky too to spot the problem. There is a wall that separates the storage area from the propane tank mounting bay behind it. At the top of this wall there was an opening to allow mainly wires to pass through and it was large enough and located right were there is a light gauge steel brace behind the wall. I think is supports the wall, too thin for a floor support. The vertical portion of the brace was broken near the top but the brace never separated so the now two parts were butting up against each other which causes the noise when the coach when over bumps. We just took a long screw driver and bent in the lower portion of that brace and the noise is gone! We did think about welding it but from inside the storage compartment, to close to items that burn. I took a quick look from the access door to the propane tank but it started to rain again so that's next time on Nova! LOL In the propane bay, there appears to be another wall covering the broken brace. Since this brace is only light gauge steel, I am not to worried about getting access to it to weld it, not to mention the propane tank!
