Binswanger Glass is a company which has branches in many states. I spoke with their local (Arlington Texas) shop and they say that if I bring in an RV window they will replace the glass with the exact same factory glass with desiccant and seal for $120.00 per pane (so $240.00 for a 2 pane sliding window). In speaking with a friend who was recently at Lazydays in FL, he says that is exactly what he had done ( at Lazydays) and for the same price.
Down side - I have to take the window out and get it to them. They will need to order the glass and then install. Obliviously, I will need to plug the window hole with a sheet of plastic and then will need to install the window when they are finished. They estimate the time necessary for their part of the transaction to be about 7 working days.

A couple of questions - Anyone ever used them? Second, if I decide to do this what tape will be best to secure the plastic? My coach is a 2005 Fleetwood Discovery with fiberglass sides.

I have searched in Texas and I have not been able to find anyone else who says they can do this kind of repair. Everyone else says they will replace the entire window.

Thanks In Advance

Marshall

Never heard of that company, but that doesn't prove much of anything.

If you are in northeast Texas, RV Fog Doctor in Searcy, AR, isn't too far away and can repair (rather than replace) your glass in one day. You might get a quote from them to compare costs.

Or this company in Dallas/FT Worth area: http://foggywindowspecialist.com/

You might talk to bluemoonrv.com if you are in the DFW area.  They are in Carrollton and do just about anything RV. You can take your RV to them or they can come to you. Might be worth a try.

RV Fog Dr. will take them out, repair, and reinstall for about $200 per window unless they are very large.  They did four on my coach in about 4 hours.

North Texas RV in Denton has been in business for decades.  You might call McLains down south of Fort Worth (Burleson?) on 35W as well.

The more I look into the repair of fogging windows the more confused I get. The confusion center around the "vacuum" between the double pane windows. Is the space between the windows really a vacuum? I have been looking for someone to do my windows, or replace them, and in some of my research it speaks of a vacuum and other articles speak of a desiccant to absorb humidity. Help.
Thanks
Marshall

No,it is not a vacuum.  The space is evacuated to remove moisture, then inert gas inserted.  The fogging takes place when the seal fails, the inert gas escapes, and normal air and moisture penetrates the area between the two panes.  The moisture doesn't escape but is trapped in between the two panes, resulting in the permanent fog.

The "inert gas" may in fact be just dry air, but it's the "dry" that is important. Once the seal between the panes fails, moisture gets in and fogging occurs as the temperature changes. Other chemicals present in the outside air may also leak in and deposit on the glass, discoloring it.

Some double-pane windows have specialized gases, e.g. argon, in between the panes, but RV dual pane windows typically just have dried air.
