;D The service station I worked for had a 68 Dodge 200 4x4 as a service truck, 383 and a 4 speed. It would climb trees if the bark stayed on just took all day to get to the tree. Rode like a buckboard, I quickly learned to keep my thumbs on the outside of the steering wheel when off the pavement. My 05 2500HD is a Cadillac by comparison. We can't get a manual in a full size pickup from the big three any more.

Amazing the US has always dominated the pick up truck industry, thank goodness! (Sorry Tundra guys). The transmission in my little Ford 5.4L has amazed me going up seriously high grade hills in an 11,000 pound vehicle. Put it first gear and it will do it. It's the tires gripping that concerns me but most of the weight is in the rear so the dulles do well. I've been in sand and it tugs out if you're careful. Not so good on ice but doable but I only have all season tires.

Here is my work truck, a 73 Dodge. Beautiful square lines IMO. My uncle bought it new and I got it from his estate in 82. Original 400 CI engine and even the A/C and cruise control still work. My wife says it rides better than a Cadillac. 47 year old shocks and springs do soften the ride  :) It isn't fast. 411 gears for 55 mph speed limits.

I favored the GM trucks for years, but I agree about these new styles.  So much so that recently I was on the fence about going Ford. Ended up in an electric Audi though. Big transition for this truck guy.

Watching a youtube video recently, and automotive engineering consultant named Munro.  He was talking Tesla cyber trucks...and trucks in general, comparing some thing about the big three.  He mentioned that the Ram truck was awarded recently luxury "car" of the year. On the surface that really do look to be well thought through.  Something about the way dodge trucks have sounded though, for years now

Pick up trucks can pull some serious weight. A powerful diesel pick up truck can easily cost 10 grand or more than my little 22R Class C but worth every penny. I've always wanted a big pick up but I would need a bigger garage. It's bad enough my RV sit's outside.

My wife and I are looking at ranch home designs with an attached garage that can handle a 40' RV. Our little 24' would leave a ton of space for my other toys. I'm thinking a 13' high by 10' wide garage door would be appropriate but would like advice from those with Class As, 5th wheels and TT toy haulers.

In my opinion, you should put in a minimum 14 foot tall door.  Don?t ask me how I know....

Agree - if I ever do one, it will be 14'. Friend of mine built a barn about 5 years ago to store his TT and I suggested that to him but he went with 12'. 2 years later he got a 5th wheel that measured 12'-3". The A/C just barely cleared the header due to the slope of the approach. A month ago he bought a new 5th wheel about 6" taller and now he's stuck storing it outside unless he excavates the stone floor.

14' high sounds good. I was a little worried about that. What about the width? Do you think 41' is big enough?

The words length and width could be interchanged and potentially confusing. In my world of engineering length is always the longest dimension, so I would call your 41 ft length.

That said, 50 ft just to be sure.  That?s just me.

Often people like to open the slides while the rv is in the garage. Think of preparing for a trip, stocking up etc. in many trailers, much is not accessible with the slides in. So, 12? wide might be better. The doorway can be 14h x 10 w.

I hate all the new pickups.  I like the older ones, where I used to be able to reach over the side to get a shovel or broom out of the bed.  I'm getting way too old to climb up in the bed every time I need a tool, even with the nifty side steps or fancy tailgates.

My wife has a cybertruck on order. She chose the 2 motor variety but will probably order the 3 motor when she gets her notice to complete. (I get the Tesla model 3 to myself when she gets her truck). I think the Ford Electric F150 will beat the Tesla to market as the Cybertruck factory is still being built in Texas. Should be a fun truck. Zero to sixty times of 3 ish seconds. Woohoo. :)

John, that's really fast. My 2015 Winnebago 22R Ford E350 5.4L goes from 0 to 60 in about an hour. LOL

Heh heh. We had a little diesel smart car about 10 years ago. We used to say zero to sixty...eventually. LOL

Our Tesla model 3 does zero to sixty in 4 seconds flat..and it is one of the slower Tesla?s. The fastest model S Tesla does zero to sixty in 2.3 seconds. It?s nuts. 3 seconds for a truck is quick. I would be afraid to rip the hitch off a trailer if I stomped on it while towing. LOL.

Haha the fastest lamborghini does zero to sixty in 1.6 seconds and the Uras can tow 7000 lbs which blows the tesla out of the water

Funny, a friend has an incredible Tesla but I have a better shower and bigger closest.

Wel, I was referring to stock out of the factory cars. The fastest lamborghini Aventador does 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds and runs around 360,000. A Tesla P100D does 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds and is about 95000 bucks. Top speed is higher on the Lamborghini.

Anyway. For sure some of this technology will make it into the Ford and GM electric trucks in the next 2 to 3 years. Dodge is choosing to sit out the electric vehicle trend so their market share will see a considerable drop in the next decade.

Interesting time.

I used to get Road & Track and loved fast cars. Had a Toyota Supra which was considered fast back in the day. Now hanging out by the fire and riding my e-bike is more my style. My KLR650 is pretty slow and 45 MPH off road or on country roads is fun. Had to get rid of my Honda V65 Magna before I killed myself. It would go from 0 to 110 in the first three gears and it had six. You had to lean forward to keep the front tire down if you popped second gear. Way too addictive for me and could go 145 before the front tire started to shimmy. The new bikes have better suspensions and can go over 200 with no modifications. Crazy fast on two or four wheels.
