I always say if you're going to buy a social media platform and run it into the ground, losing x billions of dollars first you need x+1 billions of dollars. Meantime, in a world of 8 billion people a gold plated cow patty on tiktok could positively influence millions.

SpaceX, Tesla are both amazing companies. Musk is admirable for his entrepreneurial clout, but there's a lot with him that's unfortunate, like Twitter, destroyed because of his ego. That was a lot of his, and other people's wealth flushed down the toilet. I'm rooting for the brilliant minds and the engineers who make these things possible. It's not possible without serious capital and some shrewd making of business decisions, and that's where Musk has been transformational.

Since I have no account with them, what did Musk do that was so bad? All I heard was that Twitter used to stymie people's posts if they didn't follow a certain mind-set and he put a stop to that.

That's not even the case, Twitter moderated content regardless of "mind-set". You don't anymore have a free speech right to shout fire in a crowded theater than you have to shout fire in a virtual theater.

Well, he has a well-documented and publicly known drug abuse problem. That has created many problems for his boards and shareholders, including some of the things he does and decisions he makes on company time while he's high. I don't personally judge him for the drug abuse - he's a victim in that regard - but he has more than enough resources and reasons to get help for himself.
Two, Twitter moderated all content before his purchase. Now it's a free-for-all including scams, impersonation, hate speech, and promoting things which should probably be kept within the realm of extremism from which it originates. The value of Twitter (X) certainly shows that this new platform is not an improvement and does not generate the revenue it once did. But hey, you can freely spread verifiably false information or promote hateful speech against gays, racial groups, or watch porn, torture, whatever your little heart desires on there, or not, because you're gonna see it anyway. Because free speech.
Surely you've heard of some of the conspiracy theories Elon has promoted himself, as King of Twitter, including anti-semitism. So goes doing hallucinogens, ketamine, whatever his choice of the day is.
Remember when Tesla was founded? Elon wasn't there. He sued for the "right" to be named a co-founder. He was a startup investor, didn't do squat to design a car.

Let's also mention how Twitter isn't truly "free speech" if Elon disagrees with you. He'll suspend your account or do things to it to hurt your reputation or credibility, often publicly. There's nothing "free speech about that". He never fixed the bot problem. The platform is a cybersecurity nightmare.
Wanna see real dishonesty? Look into his run-ins with the SEC. At some point, these billionaire types have to be held accountable, where no amount of money or delaying or running their mouth will keep them from following the same rules as everyone else. Because if that doesn't happen? Rules aren't rules anymore.

Apparently after the Joe Rogan spiff smoking interview in 2018 Musk was approached by Pentagon (with whom he has many contracts) officials about his drug use, the Pentagon saying that me might pose a security risk. (Speaking as one who has had a NATO Confidential Clearance previously, the gummint doesn't mess around any drug use.) So he voluntarily went on a 3 year random drug test protocol. He passed that and says he is clean as of 2021-2. Personally I've seen him do interviews where it seems like he is on Planet 9 but he seems to hold it together enough to build multiple tech companies across multiple disciplines and be a bazillionaire. Heck, you can be a meth-head regularly binging on hookers and coke and still make a million a year sitting on the board of some obscure Ukranian energy company so who knows!!

This is true - it is free speech. Again, up to the individual to do their own vetting. I will decide what to believe, and I will decide what to delete from my reading material list. I don't need some entity I don't know doing it for me and telling me what to trust, or not. Because I am an adult.
Nope, never heard any of that because, again, I don't follow the guy's life and don't really care what he is doing. Absolutely nothing that he does will affect my life.

I don’t follow his life but I do follow financial market news. As you can guess, what he does has impact.
They’re not telling you what you may or may not believe or read or hear anymore than a newspaper having editorial discretion over what it prints is telling you, you can’t read that. They’re telling you, you can’t read it here. Nor is it a free speech issue, you don’t have a right to free speech on a privately owned platform anymore than you do in the workplace. Go exercise your constitutional right to free speech by telling your boss to KMA and let us know how free speech worked out there.

This is correct. Everyone in this country has the right to free speech. What they don't have the right to is to threaten others with that speech, and they have to understand that even something said that is not threatening may have repercussions. A person can say anything to me that they want. Whether or not they get punched for it is my discretion.
