A 3rd grade English teacher came up with an interesting way to teach her students to spell. She had each of them stand up, say the name of what their father did for a living, then spell it.

Sally: "My dad is an engineer, e-n-g-i-n-e-e-r...engineer."

Bobby: "My dad is a carpenter, c-a-p-e-n-t-e-r...carpenter."

Jane: "My dad is a trucker, t-r-u-c-k-e-r...trucker."

Billy: "My dad is a sheetmetal worker, s-h-i-t..." Teacher: "Billy, that isn't correct. Please try again."

Billy: "My dad is a sheetmetal worker, s-h-i-t..." Teacher: "Billy - go ahead and sit down and we'll come back to you. Johnny, it is your turn."

Johnny: "My dad is a bookie, b-o-o-k-i-e...bookie. And I'll give you 3 to 1 odds that Billy spells '****' again."
