Would you buy an EV?

If you read the article it's a CNG station, not gasoline. And it's part of the infrastructure we abandoned in Afganistan.
We’ve had a lot of practice abandoning infrastructure, the Philippine Islands in ‘41/‘42, The Aleutions, N.Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria…..I’m sure I left someone out.

Last time I checked, gas wasn't included with the purchase of a vehicle either, but that's also heavily subsidized by the US government, every drop you put in your car. Taxpayer money...

I've noticed the overwhelming majority of the dancing around the warfire/freedom isn't free crowd, who wouldn't know which end of a mortar tube goes up, suddenly developed incurable and debilitating knee, back and foot problems when the rubber hit the road.
The problem I have with the mercenary military is it's someone else and someone else's kid over there, so not my problem.
He was a grunt over in the crotch in the 60's, so I guess he earned a free charge or two for his motorcycle.
Agree, but I am not in that majority.

If you read the article instead of just grabbing the headline, the money was for CNG distribution and a prototype vehicle fueling depot, not a traditional gasoline based "gas station." And it wasn't in the U.S. but part of the infrastructure we abandoned in Afganistan.
Sill was a big waste of US taxpayer money.

FWIW, I can only think of a few places where I charge for free at the expense of taxpayers. I will now name them all:

Truckee Town Hall (paid for by the city of Truckee, CA)
Garnerville, NV fast DC charger as well as two AC charge station (paid by the city of Garnerville, NV).
GeorgeTown, CA public Library (Paid for by CARB <CA Air Resources Board>).
Markleeville, CA (paid for by Aline County Behavior Heath Services).
.

All the rest of the "free" ones are paid for by motels, restaurants, casinos, train stations, etc.

Biden Calls Chinese Electric Vehicles a Security Threat

The president ordered an investigation into auto technology that could track U.S. drivers, part of a broader effort to stop E.V. and other smart-car imports from China.

If they want to track thousands of EVs, why should we even care? I just don't see how that can be a big problem. However, I didn't read the article because it's asking me to log in.

My Telsa's location is sent out OTA, not sure about my Bolt, but I do not care either way.

It's a particularly different problem when it's the Chinese government surveilling US citizens. We're not talking about OnStar tattling to your insurance company, we're talking about communist PRC collecting data on US citizens and their movements.

Not just a security threat, Chinese EV's represent a threat to US and other global automakers. If BYD starts selling cheap $15k EV's here, they will sell like wildfire, because it's not a market where our own automakers are competing (but where there is potentially massive demand).

Electricity is not Free. Period
Some of the charge station I use cost the exact same as them not being used. Ran by solar. Such as the charge station in Middlegate, NV, Taylorsville, CA, many ski resorts and other places. Somebody paid for the equipment, but it cost the exact same regardless if people like me use them or not.

I'm not sure what people are trying to prove by telling us "charging isn't FREE!". Uh, OK? Did any of us truly believe it was completely free, or do people think EV owners were somehow lured, sandbagged about it? We arrived at this discussion because someone made an assumption above that taxpayers pay for it all, and that's just not true. Not even remotely.

They are trying to make EV owners feel guilty. They have to pay for gasoline so there is some jealousy /envy in there too. But they would rather fight than join by owning an EV themselves.

FWIW, it doesn't work at all, does it? I don't feel a bit guilty for using free charge stations.

FWIW, I also do not mind paying as required, especially for those in great locations for my riding such as in North San Juan, CA where is costs me 66 cents per KWH, which is probably more expensive than gasoline on a motorcycle. It cost me 16 cents per KWH here in Reno on a home charge.

I am more than happy to support the costly charge stations out in the middle of nowhere. I hope they can make a nice profit on those! I want to see more of such in those type of places.

Every kid in America has access to Tik Tok, the Russians and Chinese have worms embedded in the entire communications and electrical grid, Facebook sells our data to anyone buying, google is imprinted on our neurons, AI is on the verge of creating its own terminator, but don’t buy one of those low priced Chinese EV’s, they’re scary.

Chinese EV's are something that may actually bring the two aisles of our government together. Lots of commotion about them from both sides right now.

Would being able to use CCS chargers be any help (such as those at Wally*Marts)?

And what areas is that in and how long ago? And which year and model Teslas?

How many miles to those tournaments?

Not sure. It was 1-2 years ago. It would have been in central florida and southern georgia. Sorry for the delay in replying, just found out where notifications were.

Florida is the state with the highest number of EVs outside of CA. Looks like central Florda has many places to charge these days:
