Hi Angie!
Humbly suggest that you pare down your itinerary to keep it
enjoyable.
We live in the Pittsburgh area, and have experienced difficulty in planning camper-related things out "Philly way" east of us in PA.
Once you're into the Washington-Baltimore-Philly-New York-Boston
megalopolis, the game changes with respect to campground/state park availability, traffic, travel times, etc.
A trip up Route 77 would let you reach WV/PA/OH in 3 reasonable travel days, or 4 days if you keep it leisurely/enjoyable. You'd have 1.5 weeks to see Niagara, Cuyahoga National Park in Ohio, and a whole host of other things in the area before your 3-4 day trip back.
If you do push for Maine, I'd consider skirting the megalopolis to the west so that you actually
get up there in 4-5 days and you'd have at least a full week to enjoy a couple of "home base" areas along the Maine coast.
Happy planning and travels! Strongly consider a campsite reservation anywhere in proximity to Acadia, depending on when you're there.
