I do crossword puzzles to keep the brain going. I may try B12 but I am already taking too many pills for my liking - :-(
I might get a good multi-vitamin. I took one for years but somewhere along the way I stopped.
Beef, liver, eggs, milk and other dairy products, salmon, sardines, trout and many other things provide plenty of B12, according to several web sites I came across, including this one: Vitamin B12 Foods: 12 Great Sources
The RDA of vitamins is assuming you have been getting the RDA of vitamins all your life. If you are like me I have not been getting anywhere close to the RDA all my life so when my memory starts going you have a massive deficiency of B12. If you only get the RDA then you will never catch up. As far as I know the only vitamins you can overdose on are A, D and E. And the effects are not all that terrible.Yeah - See below. In my natural diet I wasn't getting the right amounts of certain things.
@jymbee - Like everything you gotta know what you are looking for. I looked at 100mcg B12 and 50 tabs were like $10. I bought 65 Centrum Silver for $9 which has a bunch of other stuff "and" 100mcg B12. When I got sick last year my potassium and Magnesium levels were down and they shot me Magnesium IV.
@SeilerBird - My Centrum bottle says 100mcg is about 4000% of RDA. I am presuming one can't OD on B12 and I will just become supersmart - LOL...
BTW - That maths out to about 2.5mcg/day which jives with the Mayo clinic.
So what would be the advantage of changing my diet? They always replied that I would pay for it when I got older. Well I am certainly older now and my two problems are a mild case of emphysema from smoking cigarettes and my kidneys are going out, probably due to 12 Diet Pepsi a day habit for most of my life. I have quit cigarettes and caffeine and I feel pretty damn good.
