    A ?T or ?T truck pickup, to tow a 10k to 11K RV

Thanks for that real life experience. I have come to the conclusion, a .75 ton truck is the way to go. A .5 ton just will not do the job.

    A ?T or ?T truck pickup, to tow a 10k to 11K RV

The RV I plan to tow has a GVWR of just over 10K lb. Loaded it should weigh about 8100 lb to 8600 lb. But, if I need to go someplace w/full water tank, that pushes up the loaded weight, to near the GVWR. Besides being ?T, the Tundra has an all aluminum block. Which don't last as long as an iron...

    A ?T or ?T truck pickup, to tow a 10k to 11K RV

I notice the Big 3 will only put a 3.73 rear gear in their ?T PUs (Pickup). Some big3 ?T PUs are rated to tow 12K, but I feel 14K would give me a margin of safety and reliability. Important when you are a long way from home. Also, many posts I have read, when the RVer is pushing the tow limit of...

Free upgrade (if that is what it should be called) to Win 10 from 7

I bought a new desktop in June 2012, w/Win 7. Now there is an upgrade to Win10 icon, is in the lower right corner. The upgrade is supposedly at no cost. It works great, does everything I need and is very fast.  I have heard rumors that Win 10 has a lot of malware.  And there is no way to...

A 5th Wheel that will work with a Nissan Titan (9500 lb tow cap)

Anyone have a suggestion on a 5er that will work with a Nissan Titan? The Titan's max tow is 9500 lb and has a payload of 1760 lb. After two people and two pet and other gear, that 1760 figure drops down to 1500 lb. I would like at least 29 ft of 5er and a slide. A slide helps with the closed in...

Using a 32 inch HD TV as a PC monitor, instead of the 20 inch one I have now.

My current home monitor is 6 yrs old. Where as my current home PC (I use it both at home & in RV), is 3 yrs old. I was thinking if I bought a 32 inch HDTV. I could use that both as a TV and PC monitor. Instead of moving them from home to RV and back. The 6 yr old monitor can't last forever, so...

A new Electric Razor that will work better for me.

I have always used a rotary type electric shaver. To me they don't work that well. I always miss places, because the razor does not pick up my bread hair very well. I wonder if a different type of razor would help? In the FL summer heat and humidity there is almost always some moisture on my...

Ran into new web site, like the FBI Attention: Your Browser has been blocked

This one says "YOUR BROWSER HAS BEEN BLOCKED security-scan-8814.in". I have run into both, The FBI fake site and now this one. All I do is hit Ctrl Alt Delete and end process. I didn't run into any problems beyond that. I look over my machine and check in Control Panel Programs and Features. I...

Dodge Rams 1500 Diesel, an article by Consumes Reports

Seems RVers will be able to by a 1/2 ton diesel truck. Here is the article: http://tinyurl.com/lzpmezs W/3.55 rear gears it can pull a whopping 7700 lb. That is not going to help any RVer, wanting to tow a 5er. Plus, this truck priced out at $50K! So, I don't see any advantage to it at all. Not...

Backup & Restore takes forever. Is it movies I have loaded on my hard drive?

So, it would be a good idea to not backup the movies, "tailor" the process away from this and use the USB Drive for backup. Do I have the gist of what you are all saying correct? Well, along with be more patient. Which ain't easy for me.

Backup & Restore takes forever. Is it movies I have loaded on my hard drive?

I use Windows Backup & Restore (ie,  Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Action Center) about once a week.                                                             Maintenance                                                             -----------------                                  ...

Best way to carry money when RVing or traveling?

I used to use TC (Travelers Checks). However, they are hard to get cashed and/or buy things with. GC (Gift Cards) are just like cash, if you lose it, it can be used without your permission. GC also do not allow you to get cash, or depo leftover money in your bank account. A solution would be a...

Working as a contractor, delivering RVs w/ 3/4 or 1 ton pickup

I have never seen used cars & trucks as a good value for the consumer. I'm sure there are exceptions. But, what happens with a lot of good used vehicles is they are sold to another family member or friend. The junk ones are on CraigsList or traded-in to dealers. Back in the 1980s, I bought used...

Working as a contractor, delivering RVs w/ 3/4 or 1 ton pickup

A transport company is advertising for contractors, to deliver RVs. They have a contract with a major RV company. I would need a HD pickup truck, which would cost over $30K, to pull RVs. I'm wondering if this is something that will work (ie get paid enough to cover the cost of a new truck, along...

A DVD that can be rewitten many time?

There are now a lot of different types of DVDs (R/WR, -R, +R & Blue Ray). Maybe more than these. I want a DVD, I can rewrite over and over again. Use it to share movies with friends and family. Is there one that will work like this or do I need to use flash drives? The 8.5 GB DVDs are fairly low...
