    Back again

We decided it was time to sell our RV and today we put a sign on it for the town-wide yard sale. Two people expressed a real interest but had to consult with other family members first. But now I'm not longer convinced we want to let it go. I realized that selling it is not just getting rid of...

    Mouse in our ceiling!!

Looking for answers, too. Every winter the mice move in and wreck destruction. This year I bought lockable plastic bins for the pillows and bedding, but they still moved into the vents. When we turn on the fans/air conditioners, it blows mouse droppings, and an occasional mouse out. We use traps...

    Back again

We found this forum to be a life saver when we first got our big travel trailer. you all helped us figure out how to plan our big trip west. That was two years ago. In addition to taking in several visits and activities, it was an opportunity to test the waters before our dream trip we expected...

    Drive time/mileage

Back home again. We did put in a 400+ mile day twice, but paired it with a short day. most days we found 250 - 300 miles were the best. several times we did less than 200 miles because that's where our destination was - not bad. We did spend two nights at one sight so we could unhook and...

a few notes from our first trip

Back home after 5 weeks on the road. We didn't end up boondocking - we found spaces free even over the long holiday weekend but I'll not count on lucking out that way again. (Although I must say, the spot we found on Sunday, July 2nd turned out to be one of the best of the trip. Thy also had a...

I would so appreciate your help

We just got home from our first real RV trip - 5 weeks including several stops in Colorado. One of our favorite campgrounds was Diamond Campground in Woodland Park, west of Colorado Springs, in the mountains. Yes, lots of trees, and friendly, helpful campers next door.

a few notes from our first trip

We are just three weeks in to our first trip with our new-to-us travel trailer. We've learned a few things which we feel are important enough to share. 1. Check your lists when packing. Getting on the road and discovering we forgot our pillows and 1/3 of our food was not a good thing. 2.The gas...

On the road...Gray water full for no reason

I wish I had the details, but it happened to a friend about 6 or 7 years ago. There was a valve that wasn't shut properly causing her city water to fill her gray water tank.

    Gray water tank won't drain

Problem resolved! It seems there is a second valve tucked away under the slide in the front that had to be opened. The previous owner, having past away, hadn't relayed that to us, and his kid who were selling the trailer didn't know about it. The mobile service guy explained it over the phone...

    Gray water tank won't drain

2005 Jayco Eagle with 2 gray water tanks. The sensor tells us Gray #2 is full. Gray #1 was partially full but has slowly emptied. The two tanks join before the valve to the sewage drain. We bought a plunger and have been working with that. While it is definitely stirring things up and dislodging...

    Gray water tank won't drain

Our gray water #2 tank won't drain and #1 is sluggish.  We are on day nine of a five week trip and with a tight schedule we don't have time to leave it at a shop or spend a lot of time messing with it, but we have to get it working right away! We have no idea why it would be blocked. we bought...

    Tornado season

All the storms in the Midwest have us worried. In one week we will be headed west, passing through "tornado alley". I'm worried about driving with a 28' TT in bad weather. What do you do if a severe storm is approaching and you are on the road? Also related, what about insurance - do you carry a...

    Generator advice

We have a small Honda we got for our business when we set up at fairs. we will be taking it with us on our trip. It is quiet - very important, but even more essential, I can start it by myself even though I'm an old lady with bad shoulders. It's hard for me to carry when it's full of fuel, but I...

    Absolute Beginner Here

I'm convinced the people who design the floor plans never spent any time in one. Think through a day in it. Where you will put your clothes - dirty and clean? Can you get in and out when the slide is closed? Where do you keep the broom and/or vacuum? Do you need to be a contortionist to make the...

Must bring items for newbies and pro campers.

One week before we leave on our long trip - a first for us! I appreciate this thread and am considering all the answers. We are doing an overnight at a local campground Monday just to make sure all is in working order and we haven't forgotten an essential. A few years back we had a big trailer...
