I just replaced mine. Koni FSD 8805-1018 front shocks and 8805-1019 rear shocks from LTB Autosports in Melbourne, FL. $154.99 each. These folks had them in stock when everyone else had them on backorder. Great service and fast shipping. Haven't tested them out yet but planning on a 7000-mile...
A 500 cube caddy engine can be mated up to those transmissions with the biggest obstacle is to change motor mount location.
Catblaster--You can also bolt up a 426 c.i. aluminum small block Chevy to that transaxle.
Been using 4 x 24 since the early 60s. First Stanley, then Craftsman, then Porter Cable. I have a Caftsman 4 x 24 that I've had since the late 70s. Can't imagine using anything smaller.
