Don't know where you're relocated but Jurupa Valley / Mir Loma has a good generator mechanic who works out of his house.

Well did you get it fixed? Also for help of others, I would ohm out the sensor and the bad one, that may tell if it is bad.

Can you abandon the original one in place and mount the new one in a similar are but more accessable place? You didn't mention if it was sensing block temp or protruding into the oil or water system.
