Hmmmm idk, I bet in some states they would still consider it a firearm. Like New York lol
I also don't know if that would kill a bear, my guess would be not.

Most handguns won't kill a bear, it would just piss him off. (cue the macho gun owners telling me that their 44 magnum would kill a bear)

Amanda, as a Canadian we are virtually banned from having any type of firearm in the US, which if you follow the gun lobby makes us a target.  However, we have RV and travelled in all but 2 states in the lower 48, and have never had a problem.  I understand your concerns but as is often said in posts, use your common sence, and do not stay anywhere where you feel uncomfortable.  Even a fog horn will deter the normal bad actor looking for an easy mark.

Funny part of the Wiki article ...they were illegal in San Francisco and then that was overturned.  ;D

Take a look here http://www.cjrpc.org/interstate_1.htm it may give you some needed info. If the kids are firearm safety trained I would suggest a Florida Non-Resident Concealed Carry Permit. They are similar to Arizona CCW permits and make you legal in 30+ states. You can check here. https://www.concealedcarry.com/dynamic-ccw-permit-reciprocity-map-builder/

And I thought it was a device to help one dress with style and elegance. BTW, shooting a flare gun in an RV would not have a happy ending, even with good aim. Check out what the flares are made of!

I've shot flare guns before ..  I learned in the Army how much fun they can be.  :)

Flare guns are considered by international boaters to be the only defense weapon you can legally carry

You can kill someone with a flare gun...it's just practice..practice... practice.  ;D ;D

Lol, "hey neighbor, I'm having trouble sleeping with all that commotion coming from your back yard tonight. What's going on?"
"Sorry neighbor, just practicing!"

God gave us the desert just for such things...

Tracer rounds are almost a religious experience.  :)

It really is difficult to legally carry a firearm in many states, particularly eastern ones.  I have an old friend from highschool (though I have not seen him in a few years) who spent 48 hours in jail in Washington, DC about 30 years ago for the mistake of accidentally having a handgun in the trunk of his car as he was passing through the area.  He was stopped for a traffic violation, asked if he there was a weapon in the car, told the truth, and the next thing he knew he was face down on the pavement being hand cuffed.

On a side note he was in college student at the time, and in the Army Reserve, 5th generation military, joined National Guard when he was 17, switched to Army Reserve when he was 20, as he wanted to do both Air Assault school and Airborne school, before getting his commission, a few months after this incident he received his regular army commission.  He just retired last year as a full colonel.  I asked him over the years if that incident ever had any effect on his military career, and he always said no, that the Army thought it was stupid given they trusted him to command M2 Bradleys at the time of the incident.

Yes a rifle in a motorhome because it's full of kids.
And every one of my kids knows how to shoot.

Great response Amanda.  Take no sass from others.  A woman with 6 kids is not very likely to have their coach searched for weapons.  You don't fit the description of crazed killer on the loose.

The only time I have felt uncomfortable was in a site next to a camper with S&W and NRA decals and a grouchy occupant. We moved after one night.

I like how this political statement was allowed to stay .....but others were removed.

it kinda shows which way our mods LEAN.    ::)
