I have a love for woodworking, RVing, and mid-century vehicle design, so I decided to combine all three and design my very own teardrop trailer. It's been a fun project and I'm almost finished. I can't wait to take it out for a weekend of fishing!

I have been documenting the entire build with photos, so I attached a pic of what it currently looks like and another showing the galley.

Cheers,
Miguel

Thank you, Lowell.

You have a good eye - that is a HF trailer frame. Because of its size and weight (and cost), it's commonly used for homebuilt teardrops. I want to learn to weld so I can make the frame for my next build.

I also used a HF trailer to build a camping trailer for my son.  One side folds down to form a kitchen counter, the other side folds down to store sink, fishing gear, etc.  His tent, sleeping bags go in the lower section. Scanoe goes on top.  The HF frames make a nice, economical platform to start with.

That is a cool setup! I have a friend who tent camps and has been talking about wanting something like this.

what is the material?
nice looking job, Pop.

The sides are 3/4" birch ply, top is bendable poplar ply interior and exterior with 1.5" of EPS insulation sandwiched in between, and the trim is poplar. The floor and the galley hatch are each a birch ply/EPS insulation sandwich.

Beautiful rig.  I love natural wood.  If I win the lottery I want to find an old Gar Wood boat and restore it.
