    Movies with RV's in them

"That there is an RV" LOL One of those lines in a movie that is still in my vocabulary.  I quote that to my kids whenever I see an interesting looking rig.

    Water pump woes

Sorry nothing to update yet.  Ended up going out on a week long trip with no water pump, fortunately had a water hook up for 3 of the nights.  I had forgotten how much fun it was to boil water on the camp stove to do dishes and wander through the dark to find a bathroom in the middle of the...

    Water pump woes

Yea that didn't make any sense to me either and it didn't work either lol. Yes when I was doing the test with the pail I actually pull the fitting of the inlet of the pump (its a 90 deg fitting with a barb on the end), and move that fitting to another hose into the pail and then hook it back up...

    Water pump woes

I think I might have found the problem. Where the inlet hose comes out of the floor it was sealed around the hole with RTV.  That seal is broken and I think I can feel air blowing by that gap when the pump is running.  I am going to try to reseal that hole again and go from there. I'm confused...

    Water pump woes

I have two 3 way valves to bypass the hot water tank.  When not bypassed it tries to fill the tank but can't.  There is no filter on the inlet to the pump.  Just a flexible hose coming out of the floor to a fitting on the pump unless there is something under the floor that I can't see...

    Water pump woes

I will check the best I can.  The supply hose for the pump is only about 3 inches long before it goes into the floor and into the tank.  I have no idea what it looks like after it goes through the floor. It makes sense that would be the problem though.  Taking the freshwater tank out doesn't...

    Water pump woes

No winterizing valve in the one, the valve is mean moving hoses around when its time to winterize. :)

    Water pump woes

I have a 99 Vanguard fifth wheel with what I assume is the original sure flo diaphram pump that I can't seem to get primed.  I had trouble last year but farted around long enough and once primed it worked fine.  This is the first time I have tried to use it this season.  I hooked the camper up...

    Pushing my weight limit

The 6900LB weight is Dodges listed curb weight for the truck fully fueled.  As far as what else is in the truck there is me and 3 kids and really nothing else. You are correct, I didn't factor in the hitch, and it is a slider. The more I do the math and think about things the worse of an idea...

    Pushing my weight limit

Thank you for your comments.  When I add up the numbers it seems like it should be close but thats why I ask. I didn't think that the weight on the rear axle would be anywhere near 3500LBS unloaded.  The truck weighs 6900LBS and I had always thought it would have a good portion of the weight...

    Pushing my weight limit

Thats why I am asking questions.  20% of the GVWR rating of the trailer would be 2860LBS.  Rear axle rating of the truck is 6010 LBS.  Now I haven't weighed the truck so I have no idea what the weight on the rear axle is unloaded.

    Pushing my weight limit

I know this has been discussed to death around here and I have read some of the helpful tips guides on weights but I am looking for opinions on a possible setup I am considering. I currently own a 2008 dodge 2500 QC diesel 6spd auto.  GCWR is 20000lbs, curb weight is 6934lbs.  Dodges web site...

Prodigy P3 short to battery warning

Not being an expert on the subject but being in the electrical game, I would spray the connector with contact cleaner.  Soak it right down, it will displace any moisture and then evaporate.

    High quality 5th wheel upgrade

I currently have a 99 26' Vanguard and am looking to upgrade.  The Vanguard has been a fantastic unit but I'm looking for something a little bigger, with a few more features, and new.  I am looking for something in the 30' range with a couple of slides.  I have 3 kids so at least one set of...

    5th wheel electric brakes problem

Thanks for the replies.  I'm not sure I'm explaining things properly. As far as the breakaway switch goes, when I got home I found the actual switch was pulled out of the receptacle on the trailer.  Now unless I'm missing something I thought that should apply full brakes to the trailer but it...
