Good thing I didn't read your post first John! I drilled two holes in the bumper today. One 1 1/4" for the umbilical cord, and one about 11/16" for the cable for my breaking system.  The 1 1/4" hole was the easy one! I went down and bought a new bi-metal hole bit as my other one was pretty burned up. It wasn't bad at all, but I did overheat my cordless batteries a few times.

The smaller hole was a PITA just because my twist bits are getting pretty old and need replacing.  Getting the old bumper off along with the winch plate and tow plate was the majority of the time. I got the new one on easy, and spent the rest of the time on the holes and rewiring the light hook up.

Tomorrow I will remount the winch and hook everything back up.  Too cool!

Need Pictures!

Ask and ye shall receive! ;D  Here are a few pics of the finished bumper. Exactly what I was looking for. I like the full coverage fender to fender, lowered winch location, and still can use the factory fogs (although I did lengthen the wires on the passenger side).

I measured the distance to ground from the front body mounts both before and after installation.  Zero difference in ride height.  The parts I took off were pretty beefy though. The new tow hooks will be here on Friday, and will easily bolt on.

As a part of the outside remodel of the Jeep, I may have a new windshield put in. The current one is pretty blasted.  I have fixed 3 rock chips in the past, and after the Alaska trip, its got lots of minor chips that I can't get out.

Great tip John, thanks for the heads up!

The day finally arrived, my Jeep was admitted to Vegas 4x4 this morning for its major transformation. In a week to ten days I'll get to see it again...  ;D all grown up and ready to hit the trails.

My list of modifications:
Savvy/Currie Configurable 3" lift
Rebuilt (Yukon Gear) Dana 44s out of a 2006 Rubicon (least expensive way to go)
Currie Steering
Yukon Zip Lockers F&R
Slip Yoke Eliminator (SYE)
Currie Anti-Rock Sway Bar
Fox 2.0 shocks
Goodyear Wranglers 285/70Rx17 on Level 8 wheels (Chinese made wheels as a cost savings...here's to hoping I don't get bitten)
Hard Rock 4x4 Front Bumper with Tow Connections

That's about it for this initial round of upgrades. If I keep going, I will be getting a DIVORCE... ::)

That sounds like a very capable build. I'm very happy with the Currie hardware under mine. Haven't got the anti-rock yet, but it's on the list. I'm interested to to find out about how you like the Zip Lockers. I don't know anyone else that's run them.

If you wife is anything like mine she'll just resort to this.... ::) ::)  We've been married so long we wouldn't know how to get along without each other. ;)

The tow points showed up and I installed them. Then I pulled the Jeep back from my weekend  trip,  about 90 miles.  The new set up worked very well. It did take an adjustment on the braking system as the tow points on the Hardrock were further apart thus scooting the Jeep forward about  5" or so closer.

Since I will use the D rings for my  safety cables now, my current cables don't quite fit D rings.  The D rings are really fat and the cables don't have quite the room to slip on an off easily.  I'll need to  work on that one.

I was fortunate with the new bumper. The DW is the one that mentioned "we need a new bumper, something beefy".  That was all I needed to hear!

Progress...slow but sure.

Nice build, be sure and take lots of pics. Probably the last time you will see the bottom that clean...! ;)

My Jeep is tying up a lift right now, so I am sure that my builder is anxious to get the job moving out the door. I am taking a great motivator out to him today...a check.

Yep, I can attest to that motivator.  Seems to work for me. ;D

Mike.
