    Camping Teams?

I'm a photographer who camps in the national forests and national parks out west for bird and landscape photography. I try to camp on the cheap. I like to travel for months at a time, stock up on food at sams or walmart from time to time, and spend about 2 weeks in a base camp in each major...

How soon can I start North to Alaska next year?

About next spring I intend to drive to Anchorage, Alaska, and pick up my wife at the airport and proceed to tour Alaska camping in a 2wd chevy Silverado and an ALiner hard wall pop-up camper w/furnace. Weather conditions, mainly snow depth in campgrounds along the Alaska highway and in Anchorage...

    Photo locations winter west?

Well, I'm from Georgia, so any snow and/or ice accumulation at all would be OK, from a light dusting to a waist heavy load, from my perspective. I'm worried about too much snow to maneuver my 2wd vehicle, and I'm really bad at putting on chains.

    Photo locations winter west?

I'm going to do some winter photography out west in February, staying on into the spring. I'm thinking maybe Yellowstone, Arches, other "Grand Circle" parks. Possibly Yosemite for the Horsetail Falls Firefall. Where would you suggest as great for winter panoramic photography...

    popup reviews needed

I love my aliner pop up. It's very quick to pop, maybe 2 minutes. I'll pop it to make lunch or dinner on the road, for example. My main complaint is that the wheel wells are made from something like roof flashing. No strength. I've had two blowouts, one on each side, and each one has destroyed...

Best Route from Saskatchewan to Las Vegas?

Well, the engineer in my blood pops up. Best is a subjective think, depending on your criteria. Do you want to hit all the best bars on the way down, or see all the pettiest scenery, or the best autumn leaves (similar, but slightly different criterion), or hit as many national parks as you can...

    New Orleans

Hmmm. Lake Fausse Pointe state park, and New Iberia, and The Cafe Royale a block from the square would be my haunts. I think day trips to the big dirty would be my style, timed for lunch, perhaps.

    New England Park Campsite Recommendations.

https://www.google.com/maps/ms?msid=218446540649445719962.0004ad6d032234ff86d5b&msa=0 This is a google map of some possible destinations I am considering. Covered bridges, and other points of interest. VT highway 9 is the one I particularly remember as very nice.

    New England Park Campsite Recommendations.

I'm looking for national forest campgrounds in scenic areas in NH, VT, and CT, the last week in September and the first two weeks in October. National Parks are affordable, I have an Access Pass. State parks campgrounds would be nice, but more expensive alternates. I'm interested primarily in...

Is it alright not to empty black water tank for a long time?

A coprolite is fossilized feces. Coprolites are classified as trace fossils as opposed to body fossils, as they give evidence for the animal's behaviour (in this case, diet) rather than morphology. The name is derived from the Greek words κόπρος (kopros, meaning 'dung') and λίθος (lithos...

    Photography

I'm unable to shoot birds in flight (except for hummingbirds) at all, because of a catch 22 problem: Autofocus won't focus unless you are pointed at a subject. You can't see the bird if the camera is out of focus. Usually, I end up focused at infinity, and can't keep the bird in the finder. I...

More AZ hummingbird and landscape photos

Tap water is fine, except perhaps if it stinks from a bad well, maybe. Then anything you use for drinking water should do. You don't need to boil it, either. Just shake the mixture well, and you can use it immediately, even if there is a little undissolved sugar on the bottom. They enjoy it...

More AZ hummingbird and landscape photos

If you hang a hummingbird feeder, and change the nectar every two days, you should see them. There are lots of hummers in Florida. Be sure you keep the feeders very clean. Any mold in them will hurt the birds, and they will definitely stop coming back, for quite a while. In warm weather, you'll...

Yes, a composite is where two photos are combined. These days, with software, it is pretty easy, compared to the old dark room days, when it was extremely difficult.
