Babler State Park near St. Louis

Hey All, We're trying to plan our fall trip (and only third trip of the year >:() and are considering Babler State Park.  The wife wants to hit the local attractions (museum and such) with the kid, and came across Babler State Park.  Any reviews?  I know nothing about the park other than what is...

    VFD Water Pump?

Great suggestions guys!  I like the idea of a mouse pad under the pump and some foam insulation around noisy pipes... maybe when the old pump dies I'll upgrade to the variable speed model!

    VFD Water Pump?

So, I'm sick of waking up my kids when I need to flush or use the sink after they go to bed.  Has anyone ever found a quiet water pump that isn't a diaphram pump?  I work on my golf course and we have VFD irrigation pumps (variable frequency drive) that spin slow when demand is low and ramp up...

What do you do when your loan is more than your motorhome is worth?

I would think it would be the same as being upside down on anything. You either sell it and lose money, or just keep it and enjoy it and make extra payments to pay it down closer to what its worth. Tough situation any way you slice it and unfortunately it is probably not an uncommon problem...

MPG vs. Tranny wear & tear

@Derby6: My TT is an Ultra lite and max's out under my towing capacity by almost 1000 lbs. Although the Durango handles the TT well going to 90% of the campgrounds, I will be looking to upgrade to a Suburban or equivalent before the next cross-country trip!

MPG vs. Tranny wear & tear

So here's my question. Pulled my TT from central Illinois the central Florida and had plenty of time to listen to and feel my Durango working its way over the hills. I got to thinking that if I maintain between 60 and 65 mph, I likely save on gas mileage, but the tranny does a considerable...

    Central Illinois to Orlando

On Friday I am taking my family to Disney World and pulling our TT.  In the interest of TV health and wear and tear, I am considering the Nashville - Birmingham - Mongomery route and then jumping back over to I-75 via US 82.  On our last trip (without the camper) we took the Nashville -...

    Foamy water after DEWINTERIZING

My camper has a tee and valves on the inlet side of my water pump. One valve on the FW tank side and another to a 12" section of hose.  Just shut the FW tank valve and open the "extra hose" line valve, stick the hose in the jug of antifreeze and go turn on the faucets until the anitfreeze comes...

Ft Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World - Orlando FL

Very good to hear!  I'm taking my family from 3/18 to 3/26 with the first stay at Fort. Wilderness and then on to the inlaws in Okeechobee.  Should be an interesting trip (coming from Central Illinois with three kids and a dog) but fun nonetheless.  Sort of a nice kickoff to the 2011 camping...

    "Co-op"ing an RV

I just read a post about private individuals renting out their RV and was impressed by the resounding "NO WAY!" The most responses contained. It got me thinking about a conversation I had with a neighbor when we were looking for our rig. Would you consider buying an RV with a good friend or...

How much snow is too much?

Just hook up and drive real fast... ;) Most of the articles I have read conflict with one another.  Some say you risk too much damage to the roof, others imply it will certainly collapse if you do something...fast!  We've got 12" of snow on tap for this week (Central IL) so I'll be checking in...

    Disney world camping

Looking for a good campground other than Disney's Ft. Wilderness ($100/night).  Saw good reviews for KOA, but that is 25-30 min from Magic Kingdom according to google maps.  Any suggestions?

    gas milage

I've got a 2006 3/4 ton Chevy with a 6.0L engine and I can tell you that, even on a good day, it will get about 12 mpg!  That's no cargo, no towing, just me and my 35 pound dog driving down the road.  I would guess it goes to about 7 or 8 when I'm towing my camper (28' ultralite TT).  Don't use...

Transmission cooler for a Dodge Durango

Hello All, I'll be making a trip from Central Illinois to Okeechobee, FL over spring break and want to outfit my Durango to make the trip without problems.  I've been dragging my TT around central Illinois and Indiana for a few years, but never in very hilly locations.  The trip to Florida...

    Overnighting

Hello All, I will be taking my family to Disney World, and then on to Okeechobee over spring break and will be pulling my 28' TT as our "mobile hotel".  Being that we've always stayed within about 6 hours from home (central Illinois), we've never had to "pull in for the night" anywhere.  What...
