    Fifth-wheel vs. motorhome revisited

BTW, what kind of truck is that with the motorcycle?

    Fifth-wheel vs. motorhome revisited

Hmmm, hadn't thought of putting the bike in the truck.  If I do that, I could probably pull a light-duty truck with my current motorhome.  I think I can pull 5,000 lbs with the Vacationer. Is it a bit challenging getting the bike up the ramp? Something to consider...

    Fifth-wheel vs. motorhome revisited

I read several posts comparing 5th wheel's to motorhomes, and I have yet another angle to consider. I've been a full-timer for about 3 years in a gas Holiday Rambler Vacationer (a nice first RV, IMO).  However, I'm almost up to my CCC, and I'd like to have a motorcycle and a W/D.  Either would...

RV-friendly states for full-timer still in workforce

I recently moved from Florida to California in my motorhome, which is my only home.  I'm still working.  I should have done more research, but California is not RV-friendly on several fronts:  Few private campgrounds, expensive parks, burdensome DMV requirements, high taxes, etc. Not wanting to...

Full-timer, moving to California, do I need to change DL and tags?

Maybe I'm looking for an excuse to leave...  :)

Full-timer, moving to California, do I need to change DL and tags?

All good comments, thanks.  My job is officially "full-time", but part of my delimma is that I'm not sure if I like it.  So the 10-day rule is a bit of an inconvenience.  Not going to hold you to this, but if I am stopped, and I say I'm "staying" at Flying Flags and on a contract, what is the...

Full-timer, moving to California, do I need to change DL and tags?

Hi, I've just moved to the Santa Barbara area, and rumor has it I have 10 days to switch to a California license.  I would prefer not to give up my Florida license, as that's my permanent mailing address, DL, tags and voting. Is it possible to keep the Florida registration?  Under what...

    Toilet bowl slowly fills

I have a Holiday Rambler Vacationer motorhome, 2006 model, been full-timing for 2 1/2 years.  Lately the toilet bowl is partially full when I come home from work (yes, still working), I'm guessing because the valve doesn't completely close when I take my foot off of the pedal.  Is there an easy...

Have two antennas on roof, what are they for?

I have a 2006 Holiday Rambler Vacationer with lots of upgrades.  There are two small (6 inches) black antennae mounted on the roof.  I'm guessing one is for the satellite radio, since my stereo says "Sirius-Ready".  What are the chances the other one is for a cell phone?  How would I find out? ...

Full-timer, but may have to give it up

I bought my first RV last December, and lived happily full-timing in middle Georgia until August.? I'm not retired, or even close, but my jobs tend to be short contracts, so I thought the RV would work out well.? Then I got an offer to move to Fairmont, West Virginia, which I accepted.? Now that...

Steering wheel lock with tow dolly

I'm towing a 2005 Honda Civic using a Demco Tow-It 2 dolly.? The manual says the steering on the car must lock, or else I have to tie the steering wheel in place.? In my case, the steering wheel locks, just not pointed straight ahead.? I found out by towing for a hundred miles, then noticing at...

    Full-timer, RVing in winter

Don, that sounds like a good plan.  I can go a few days with careful water usage, and connect when the weather moderates.  I do have double pane windows.  :) Dave

    Full-timer, RVing in winter

Thanks for the info.  Sounds challenging, but I'll be giving it a try.  I'll be ordering the directories ASAP. Dave

    Full-timer, RVing in winter

I'm less than a year into my first motorhome, all spent in Georgia.? I'm a contractor, and have just accepted a new contract in Morgantown, WV.? I'm wondering what challenges I will face trying to spend a winter in a cold climate.? I'm guessing those that have the option choose southern...

    Insurance for full-timers

I'm about 6 months into my first year of RVing, and I'm full-time.  My dealer sold me a policy that specifically excludes full-timers (his advice -- "just don't tell them"), so I'm thinking it's time to fess up.  What insurance companies offer full-time?  I'm currently with Progressive, so I'll...
