    Purchasing a used Truck questions?

Fords - 2000 to 2003 7.3L or 2005 and above 6.0L. The 6.0L used in the second half of '03 thru '04 had some serious issues (not all, but a majority did). Around '05, Ford / Internation had some significant changes made to the 6.0L and they seem to be a more reliable engine. My suggestion though...

    What's your tow vehicle

Give it a chance. Everyone I know that has bought a new Ford with the 6.4L has told me that MPG improves with time/milage. Even my 6.0L gets better milage now than it did the first time I towed. Larry

    Hybrid Campers, they worth it?

Same question was brought up on this thread . Interesting reading. Larry

    fifth wheel lift

The weight 16,000Lb weight limit to refer to, please clarify - is that the GCWR minus the actual truck weight or is that the GCWR on the door pillar? If it is the actual weight available "after" subtracting the truck, you may be OK as long as the pin weight of the trailer does not exceed the...

    Source for awning light clips?

Try Walmart. Just bought both awning light hangers and 2 deflappers for around $20 - and there was no outrageous shipping charges which is even worse than CW non-member prices. Larry

    wheel chocks

BAL Deluxe chocks are good (that is what I use), if you have the clearance between tires to use them, but hands down, Roto-Chok is the best and actually not that much more, but you do have to order them online. One problem I've had with my BAL's is that my trailer has Mor/Ryde suspension and it...

    fifth wheel lift

And you will probably still exceed the weight ratings of an F250. Personally, I would seriously consider "returning" the banks setup. The 6.0L engines are pretty much maxed out from the factory - the ratings are about 1/3 more that the same engine in any International truck. You would be...

    Wood Laminate Installation...glue or float?

Instead of nailing the shoe molding, you could do what we did in our sun room with concrete floor and walls - liquid nails. Works great and if you need to remove it, it does still come off, but with quite a bit of gentle persuasion. Personally, if I was going to redo a floor to appear as a wood...

    Fiver Pin Boxes

Had talked with folks that have tried both the trailair and 5th airborne. Everyone of them hands down, got rid of the 5th airborne and went back to the trailair. Was told that it did a much better job of eliminating chucking. I also know folks that still use the 5th airborne and swear by them...

    Wood Laminate Installation...glue or float?

Float! Laminate needs to be able to expand and contract - it is after all a wood product. Lay down the underlayment foam, use spacer blocks and keep the edges of the floating floor about 1/4" away from the walls. After you are done, you cover the edges with quarter round or base shoe molding...

    Fiver Pin Boxes

TrailAir make a very good one also. My GVWR of the trailer is 13,995Lbs PIN 1980Lbs. Really changed the ride of both what is in the trailer and the ride of the TV, especially over rough roads. Larry

    RV age restriction's

I think they use the 10 year old rule, as mentioned before, as a way to weed out shabby looking units. A campground we were just at over the holidays had the same rule, but there was an obviously much older Class A from Canada that was there. It looked like on old Greyhound bus, but it was very...

    Winterizing---NEW TO RV'ing

Unless it's expected to drop below freezing for more than a day, personally, I would drain the holding tanks, open the fauctes and drain the water lines at the low point drains, empty the water heater, then pour a couple cups of RV antifreeze in the sink / shower drains and some in the toilet...

venting of fridge -- roof vs side?

My fridge is in a slide and it is vented to the side. There is also a small fan toward the top of the compartment to circulate the air when the compartment temp gets above 80. Convection cooling isn't too effecient unless you have a roof vent. - Oh, domestic fridge. Larry

    Towing a Trailer

First question is: Does the trailer even have brakes? If it's a U-Haul type, it may possibly have surge brakes which work off inertia at the hitch, then a brake controller in your Winny would not be necessary. If you do actually need a controller, it would be hooked up just like you would do it...
